FB is pure evil, IMHO, and it's nice to see the pendulum swing back to forums for tech (and other) info. (y)

I haven't logged in since...forever...and thought I'd swing by today to see what's up. We bought acreage in East Tennessee back in 2020 (2 weeks before the lockdowns started), and I've been building a small house for us over the last year. FWIW, we're happy to be living in the free state of Tennessee!

My only vehicle at this point is the little 4x4 below, and it's already proven very helpful around our property. I'd like to find another old CJ someday (I've owned just a few of those in the past), and I'll look harder once our house is done. Maybe prices will be a little more reasonable once the economy goes even further into the crapper. ;)

I want one of those.
It's just their little L2501 model (sub-25 horse, but without all of the EPA garbage). Love it. It's perfect for our 9.4 acres. It's working hard, too. They call the ground here "rock batter". You can't stick a shovel in the ground without hitting a rock.

Welcome back! Looks like a nice piece of land you have there!

Start a build thread on the house. RBB did that for his build and it sure has been fun to watch the progress over the years.

Beautiful piece of land! My wife and I plan on moving to Tennessee when I retire in 5 years.
Thanks! We love it here. Hopefully, property availability gets a little better when you're closer to retirement. It dried up quite a bit (and/or prices spiked) shortly after we bought in early 2020.

I have been thinking about looking around Tennessee to retire myself. Florida was looking like a maybe but the extreme hot summers and hurricanes plus my wife hates snakes.
We will be heading down to look around Tennessee in about two weeks on our way to Florida.

Travel safely, and good luck. (y) FWIW, the area we're in has a lot of Florida transplants (among those from other states). Florida rocks in terms of freedom, but it feels way too overpopulated for someone like me.

Thanks. I like Florida for the nice warm weather, but the congestion and heavy traffic gets tiring real fast. A slower pace of life is comfortable to live with.
