I'm looking to shoot new paint onto my scrambler, and, honestly, its something I haven't done before.

Probably going to try something basic, some base coat/clear coat from summit racing or something.

how much paint does it take to do a jeep body? Outside only, not worried about inside the tub, underhood, inside fenders, thats all black. So I just need enough paint to do the exterior body.

Is 1 quart of color enough? 2? Lot cheaper to buy by the quart, if I'm 2 or less quarts.

a big john deere fan, no.

But, I am also am straightening out the body, putting on new fenders, new flares, new rocker protection, corner guard, etc. I want it to look halfway decent.

when I painted mine last summer I used about 1/3 of the gallon I purchased. I guess I have enough to do it again, do some touch up inbetween, and paint my new cage and half doors. That was 3 coats of single stage.

So I think I will be good with 1 quart.

I am thinking that I will paint the grill and windshield black. I don't really need to put much paint on the corners, since they will be covered with corner guards (this is a big area on a scrambler).

So I'm painting:

fenders
hood
tailgate
tub back to the center of the wheelwells.

thanks!
