The oil in the Prizm looked really low, so I put in a full quart and part of another. Then checked it again, and I over filled it. :(

I put about 150 miles on it and finally got the oil changed. So it is at the right level now....

So, how much damage do you think I did to the engine?

a couple of weeks ago this kid i know was low on oil so he put in 4 quarts and knew he had a problem when his truck started smoking real bad, so he changed his oil and overflowed his drain pan. he's also a pothead and thinks he knows everything.

I had a girl bring her Saturn to my shop last week that over filled her's by a FULL GALLON JUG! Her uncle told her to put a "whole thing of oil in" meaning a quart.

She showed up saying "My car just started smoking" I 1st though head or head gasket but then checked the oil level. We pulled it in, did a oil change and valve cover gasket replace. She was good after that.

What a true blonde moment.

i got one better. when i worked at this oil change shop we had one customer get her car towed to us because it wouldn't crank over. had a full battery and a good starter but it wouldn't turn over. i pulled the dipstick and it was full. i mean full. someone told her to check and top off the oil because it was low and apparently she thought the full mark meant you were supposed to add oil until it was at the top of the stick. apparently a chevy 3.8 V6 will hold more then 15 quarts of oil. :sonicjay::sonicjay: car ran fine after that.
