I just rebuilt a carb for my friends Skiers Choice boat and the thing runs great but has a problem...
When you punch it the boat pulls hard all the way to 44mph then it loses power and drops to 38mph where it stays.

Specs: Holley 1460 electric choke, vacuum secondaries
Indmar inboard 350

The throttle cable is attached at the lower hole to limit throttle plates from opening 100%. I am guessing either the secondaries are closing or the choke is activating at high rpm... Any ideas? We were low on fuel so we had to head back to shore but I never had the chance to run it with the engine cover off to look at the carb. I will do that the next time.

I think you are right about the secondaries not opening up or the choke coming on. Both of those would more than likely cause that issue. If the choke was on all the time it wouldn't be idling right or running right period, which I'm sure you know.

You'll probably just have to watch it with the engine cover off.
