I just bought a chevy small block and am having trouble getting it to run right. Is there anyone in the area with expertise that might be willing to stop over and take a look? There would beer, or money, or whatever you need, if you can help me figure it out...Thanks Dave

I'm not sure how far from chelsea...but I have been trying lots of things and I found a slight discoloration under the cap between two of the terminals and I think they were trying to fire at the same time or arcing under the cap. I swapped caps and it helped alot but something still doesn't seem right. Its most noticeable under light throttle below 3000 rpm. This is my first hi-hp motor and I have a hard time telling if there still is a slight miss or if its just the cam... ( its very lopey?) I'm getting closer but running out of Ideas. I did recheck the firing order and I'm good there....any other ideas?

Did you have the distributor curved on a machine? What is the inital timing at idle and the total timing say at 3000rpm? Or maybe carb is off.
