I bought the 8000lb one for my car trailer and it works just fine, with the 15% discount i paid around $300 for it.

I had one on my old TJ it worked but reeeeaaaal slow, and get a cover for it in winter. Mine froze up while driving thru freezing rain on my way to the Sno-blind and I could not get it working the whole week-end.

I have a 10k on my TJ. I've used it a couple times on some decent pulls. It's slow, but that's only a problem when your reeling everything back in. I haven't had a problem with mine at all. I've talked to guys with smaller ones though and they've had some troubles with overheating. Mine doesn't really work hard so I haven't had that problem. I paid something like 360 for mine with HFs no questions asked 3 yr warranty. If I break a cable or anything, I get a new winch.

I'm happy so far.

x2 Ive got the 10k and ive done some hard sideways pulls with it through deep heavy snow. It is slower but it works damn well imo. Buddy had the 8000# one and used that thing for 3 years without a problem and he submerged that thing in mud more times than i can remember and pulled while under too.

When I bought mine I did quite a bit a research first. Google it and you'll find quite a few reviews. I never read anything bad really about the HFs winches except the speed. Yes, they are the same winch as the milemarker electrics.

Ran a HF10k in my heavy 67 scout, worked fine. Just like they say above, it's not speedy but it's been dependable.

My dad now uses this winch for his 5th wheel car hauler. Slow speed for great control. :p (scouts in rebuild stage so i won't need it for a long while.) :)

pretty much what everybody else says, I have the 10k on my bronco i ve made a bunch of heavy pulls over almost 4 yrs now, and no problems, its just slow, they are on sale right now too 400, with roller fairlead and mounting plate, if the speed isnt a problem to you just get the warranty and no worries

Winch

I have bought 3 of the HF 8000 lb winches ,when they were 300.00 with mount plate included. I have sold all 3 to friends and they all still work well . Extremely slow but I could have bought 4 for the price of my Warn. If one fits your budget and personal needs its a good deal or you could carry a herd of turtles with you and harness them for faster pulling speed!

When I was looking for a winch I found a Harbor Freight (which is Chicago Electric) 8K one on eBay, pick up only, for $145 with the mounting plate. I've had it for 3 or 4 years. It has worked flawlessly. Saved my skin at least once. One time I had to pull to 4 different anchors to get up and over what I call talcum powder hill. It's slow...but steady. I made my own cover out of some naugehyde.

wll what do you want when your winching?

a winch thats fast or slow?
Fast no load line speed, if you are in the type of situations where you are winching under power.
