Probably a good thing, otherwise I can't see how he would have survived a nose dive of that magnitude! I was surprised he wasnt injured at all by the way he did land.... I'm sure his neck was feelin a little sore the next day! :rock:

 

I think the rapter was Larenger racing if I'm correct. But I'm not sure.
And the YouTube description says this guys name is Mike Higgins.

 

I just looked again at the vid of the blue rapter and it is the same guy.

It came up nose high but, it parachuted towards the end. If he is going to be trying to get huge air he needs to vent the body to let the air through.

Nice jump though.

 

I like how they are calling it a trophy trucking the videos...that thing isn't even close to a trophy truck, like not even a little bit

It has a body shaped like a Raptor body, albeit on steriods and all bulgy.

I saw the truck at B&L looking pretty and afterwards it was hauled back on a flatbed. 30 minutes run time on a freshly built pre-runner. The frame tubing was tweaked pretty badly, everywhere. It won't be back anytime soon.

Mike Higgins has accomplished the incredible feat of jumping the farthest ever in a vehicle at Silver Lake. It was 180 feet. He was not injured in the jump. That thing wasn't even CLOSE to a Pro2 truck. There's nothing "Pro" about a bunch of fiberglass surrounding inadequate tube work. Sure, it was probably better than 90% of the stuff out at SL, especially considering the lack of injuries, but nowhere near Pro2 level.

 

I love watching people with money destroy there toys....huge jump....I hope he got a lot of high fives from some red necks, cuz thats going to cost some money to get it fixed.

 

According to Lenger racing's Website its a pro-lite, bought used.
Why is the tube work inadequate?

 

Because the thing folded in half on a landing that wasn't all that hard by professional racing standards. I can only see so much of it in the video, but the amount of tube and supports look nowhere near like what I've seen in the pro trucks. I'm not saying it's a pile of junk, but it sure doesn't look like it was built beefy enough for the kind of abuse it's gonna see based on that video.

 

I feel like it takes way more abuse thab a prolite that is kept on a track that was a 180ft jump with probably a 50ft drop

 

That was a terrible landing, no doubt, but have you ever seen one of those races in person? They're hard on equipment and built much more rigid than that thing appears to be

 

I agree it was a bad landing, but last year at Red Bud Scot Douglas landed a longer, higher jump in his pro4 on the first lap and finished the race in 3rd.

The jump by Douglas was nothing of the same. Sweet none the less but not even remotely the same situation.

Wow. I wonder who's old Pro-Lite it was. That is some serious frame bending right behind the cab. I though they had more of a diagonal running to the back of the chassis.

 

I guess I just don't get the accomplishment here.

Looks like it was a cheap pro lite. Not a trophy truck, not a pre runner, not a Pro 2....... It was a big jump, stupid hurts and costs $. Good for him.
