I'm looking to do a set of 4.88s in my JK. I live in Waterford and work in Royal Oak. So I'd like to find a shop within a reasonable distance of there.

I have the rubicon electronic lockers and from what I read it seems like every shop not experienced with jeeps royally f$&#cks the e-lockers up when they do gears. Can anyone recommend any good shops?

I called Jeeperz Creeperz but they're booked until July.

I'm going to try to call DTS in Warred Monday as they are closed on the weekends. Any thoughts on those guys?

I know there is a little ring and pinion shop right here in Waterford on Walton called Oakland Ring and Pinion. Anybody have any experience with them?

Is there anybody else in the area I should be checking out?

Thanks!
Doc

I had DTS in Ionia, Mi. add ring and pinions and lockers to my TJ and the only problem was a front pinion seal leaked. I took it back and they installed a new seal, no charge 6 months after. I think you would be very happy there because that is pretty much what they do everyday. Just my $.02.

I ended up going to Unlimited Offroad Center in Fenton. Thanks for the recommendation. These guys rock. Their prices were great. They had me in and out in a day. The gears are dead quiet. My electronic lockers work (which is a big problem a lot of guys have after having local R&P shops do gears). They noticed my ball joints were shot and installed a set of good condition low mileage takes offs they had around at no charge. They also pointed out a couple of things with my setup that I hadn't noticed that I might want to address (shock relocation due to interference with the frame while flexing). :thumb:

I was originally going to do 4.56s and ended up doing 4.88s. I was worried they were going to be too steep for a daily driver but they are about perfect with a 6 speed and 35"s.
