My wife's jeep has the awd t-case. When driving it the front sounds like a whirring noise. She never goes offroad or anything. Would it hurt anything to pull the front driveshaft for a while being an AWD vehicle??

What year?

93-95 pulling front shaft is a no-go
96+ is okay.

It's a 98, what is the difference between those years?

The early transfer cases couldn't lock the center differential, so the front would want to spin. Burn out the viscous coupling.
