Anyone been to it prior years? I love beer, but suprisingly this doesn't sound like tons of fun. $1 to try each beer. It appears you get a dixie cup sized sample so your actually paying like $5 for a beer. And it's an hour drive.

What do you all think?

I went to Beer on the Pier on Chicago 2 weekends ago, about the same idea.

It was okay, But i've always been disappointed in any "festival" put on in 1-800-FUN-TOWN.

except for Autofest

I've been three or four times, including last year. It's a pretty good time. As you said each ticket is $1 and gets you a 4 ounce sample. So if you do the math it's $3 per beer (12 ounce).
The great thing about it is that you get to try so many different kinds of beer without having to drink a whole beer of it if you don't really like it.
It's mostly just different microbreweries from Michigan and the midwest that are there so there is a very good selection of beer to try. (And they are little higher in alcohol content. There are also beer distributors there that sell the normal offerings from Anheuser Busch, Miller, and Coors.
