I dont know if anyone keeps up with the news, but id like to inform you, A student of Wayland Union High School, (a classmate of mine), has passed away today. On Saturday, Him, his brother, and 2 friends were driving on a slippery road. 2-3 Police cars were driving on the opposite side of the road, with lights and sirens on, heading to a man with a gun call. When the car containing the kids seen the cops, they lost control, crossed the centerline, and crashed into the 2nd police car. The driver. who was the older brother, a Junior at Wayland is fine. The Younger brother, Evan Dame, 14, and a Freshman, was put on Life Support, and later today, Passed away. One of the other passenger i believe went into surgery, and doesnt remember anything. but he will be fine. I just thought id share this, to inform you to be secure when letting your children drive in this weather, and to put the Dame Family into your Prayers. Thanks You.

I used to own a wrecker business and I've seen this type of thing before. 90% of these types of fatalities involved alcohol. I hope your friends were not drinking when this happened.
i believe no alcohol was involved, but the facts are very limited. Due to the Officer being involved

slippery rds and cops speeding with lights and sierins, how would you think alcohal was part of it??? Yes it could be, but highly doubtful
I guess there was 3 cars heading the opposite way as the cops. The Dames Car being the 3rd, last in line. The first cop car went by them. Then the 2 cars in front of the Dames Were able to slow down, but the Dames couldnt And then crashed into the cop car.
On Thursday it will be a year since i lost one of my closest friends to a car accident. It's very difficult and i still have a tough time dealing with it. December 11th sticks in my mind everyday. I'm sorry for your loss, my prayers go out to your community
Thanks. Id also like to say, My mother went to High School with their father. When i told her, she was heartbroken, and couldnt imagine how he feels.
I beleive it was purely weather related and possibly driver inexperience, the car was hit broad side by a cruiser, truly an unfortunate accident, just need to be safe and cautious when traversing roads in bad weather.
Man, i cant even think of how bad school is going to be tommorow. I dont want to sound like a baby, but i dont handle crying well at all.
well if it is any consolation, you may not have school tomorrow if we get snow like we did yesterday. looks like a pretty good snowmaker coming across the lake now.
yea, im sure a snow day would help my school out alot.
Anyone Ever lost a friend or classmate? Howd you deal with it??
I lost my cousin a couple years ago and my brother has lost several buddies in the military. I know it sounds girly but some times a good cry can really help, then after that chin up and be supportive for every one else dealing with loss, that can be therapeutic in it's own way, by bringing comfort to someone else. There are no words that can possibly ease the pain of a lost one, especially some one who hadn't even had the real chance to experience life. You will figure it out.
I lost a cousin on dec 21st one year, and a friends dec 22nd the next. I don't really remember what i did to cope, just stayed around friends and family. Both times were the first day of Christmas vacation too, I started to not like Christmas as much since then.
