Well I don't know if this is the right thread. Please move it if it is in the wrong place.

I went to DTS in Warren yesterday a 2 hour drive. I wanted to give a MI business some of my money. I went to Snofari and won a $50 gift certificate which helped to. I was going to buy a 2 Elockers and front axles, not a small amount of money over $2000. I looked around on the net for what they were selling for and called DTS and they said they would price match. So I called yesterday to check their stock on the locker and they had just the rear so I drove to pick it up and order and pay for the other locker and axles. When I get there they have the locker on the counter waiting for me. The guy was in the process of ringing me up, and I tell him about the price match he says ok BUT you cant use the gift certificate. If you are going to use it you have to pay RETAIL. Retail is $1050 and sell price was $699. If they were giving away gift certificate it shouldn't matter when you use it!!!! When I was at SnoFari the group I was with was in awe at the amount of gift certificates that were given out by DTS. My plan was to give them business because they supported SnoFari. But in fact they didn't support shit if you cant use them.

I would understand if it was $50 off, but a $50 gift certifacate should be like cash in their store.

They did give away $1000 worth. YOu just had to use it on a Retail priced item. They already priced matched, giving you a $300 discount off their retail. Why should they let go of another $50 of revenue? If they said on the phone they would use your gift certificate, and price match, can see where you would be upset.

yes and no. normally someone buys a $50 gift certificate for....$50 and gives it to another person. but i'm assuming that DTS donated a $50 gift certificate....for free. so if they're already price matching and loosing money, why would they take another $50 hit. just saying

I guess they should of spelled it out better for ya,like the big stores do.It's pretty common for coupons or gc to say "not to be used with other specials, promotions,or sales.I guess I would have sucked it up a little, and realize that dts, like everyone else,is trying not to lose money at the end of the day.
Buy your shit online,as cheap as you can, then bitch when you have to ship it back when your elocker fails.

They kinda hosed me, I picked up an install kit for a Yota V6 diff using Sno-Blind certs, when I finally got ready to put it in found they gave me parts for a Land Cruiser diff. When I took it back they said it was too late for an exchange even though they sold me the wrong part. I have more certs, going back for a cheezy locker. They give away a bunch of $50 & $100 certs knowing that you are going to have to spend more money to get anything.

When you say retail of $1050 do you mean like the fake retail price that no one ever pays? Or do you mean what they would have actually sold it for if you hadn't said anything? If its the later and they were going to sell it for $699 that's a heck of a profit margin. :sonicjay:

I've used them several times without problems and they gave me a good deal & decent service. I'm not into coupons, gift certs, or expecting a company to loose money for anything but their F-ups so I buy on the 'in basket' price or availability.

I had them install a locker and gears I bought from them along with c-clip eliminators in a mustang I used to have. The axle leaked out the ends onto the brakes pads and would leave little puddles on the ground. Tried to get them to fix it and was told if I drive it on the street I had no warranty. After I tried to fix it a couple times and replacing the rear brakes a couple times I ended up selling it. The guy that bought it told me they cut the axle housing crooked so the c-clip eliminators would not sit flush, he fixed it and it hasn't leaked since.

The guys I dealt with there were assholes and I will never use them again or say anything good about them.

I have only dealt with dts in ionia, and before that moline.Mike and his guys have done great work for me in the past. They have stayed open late for me when I needed parts after five, they have delivered stuff to me after hrs,and tried to refuse any componsation.
I have had no bad experience with DTS in the 15? Years I have dealt with them.

Yes the fake retail. They range in price online anywhere from 699 to 780.

i have nothing nice to say about dts other than they are close to me, and usually have spicer joints. their counter people are the worst! i choose to buy my stuff elsewhere, usually kevin at jeepers creepers. i sure miss reider racing, awesome service, great prices.

throw away their bogus coupon and buy elsewhere.

If you don't wanna lose 50 bucks don't fucking hand out certificates.

I would like to know their side of the story, from what i can tell the OP has a point.

Who all got the other certificates?

I had them do gears in my TJ. On the highway the bar that attaches with a nut with a cotter pin (can't remember the name) came off on that end 4 miles from their shop. So one wheel would not turn. This was scary with a TJ on 37's

It does say right on the front "recipient must spend equal or greater value of coupon at retail pricing to redeem".

But hey who reads that stuff anyway. :fish:

I have never done business with DTS, and have no intentions to.
