My 89 Dodge Raider has been having some elect. problems lately.
I was out wheeling and noticed my tach had gone to zero, then the fuel gauge was slowly falling, and the radio quit. I stopped and looked at the volt meter and it read something like 4 volts. Shut the truck off and needed a jump to get going again, loaded it on the trailer and thats that. I figure maybe the alt is dead and the battery could not supply enough for the gauges.
Im going to get the alt tested, but here is the weird part.
I put my DVOM across the two terminals on the batt to see what the alt was putting out, and as soon as i touched the leads to the batt, the truck shut off. I jumped it again and tried the same thing and it killed the truck like a killswitch. I then tried to check off of the terminal of the alt and the same thing happened.
Any ideas??? sound like a short???
Let me know if you have any ideas thanks
