Anyone else have an eerie feeling at there place of employment? Between the down turn in the economy and the changing of regimes here at work, a few of us feel like we are on an emotional roller coaster.

Anyone else get bad or odd vibes from work lately?

I am feeling some vibes right now, going to go take care of the situation after I finish my coffee.
Let me know how that works out for you. :whiz:

Yup, got the "your replaceable" feeling cause there are so many out of work that will work cheaper
Yup...

I'm getting some vibrations at work too... I am going to have my tires balaned next week, should take care of em :thumb:

Had those feelings a year ago when the company that I work for fired 17 people in the same day and then for the next following months at least one person a month quit.

I've been laid off 4 times from three different companies in the last year and a half. I'm getting tired of the "eerie" feeling. Hopefully a career change will solidify things for me.

Wow, that is insane! Are you still working for this company? Have things stabilized?

they laid off about 15% of us last month. Sales projections are weak. I will probably be out of here at the end of the year. It sucks though, I really like this place.

Yeah, when DTE Energy shows up and wants to shut off your power you get a bit worried. I am already down to 3 guys and myself. I used to have 11 guys working for me.

On Friday it is a race to the bank. I am seeking employment elsewhere, N or S Carolina would be nice..................

We have had the constant lurking of "anyone is replaceable" for quite some time.

With Michigan being a "at will employer" it's easy for companies to do this.
The nice thing is middle management is in the same boat, everyone knows their replaceable.
There are always younger kiss- asses willing to break the rules to get ahead, until their caught or called out on something unethical.
It gets old quickly and most of the employees spend all their time dodging bullets or putting out fires all day. Rather then actually being proactive or staying ahead with new ideas. New ideas nowadays are just another way to paint a target on your back.
In 2 months, I'm going for my system admin cert and getting out of a dead end career that pays 60+ k with a company vehicle. (which i admit is good)

I don't like the way office politics have changed me, and my biggest concern after 10 years of this is finding out the grass isn't greener elsewhere.

It's been pretty weird at my job. They are still hiring people, but seem to be having a tough time finding stuff for us to work on. Not sure what's going on.

I had that feeling last week. Last friday I got laid off, I haven't decided what I'm going to do yet. It is hard to give up a career that you enjoy, but on the other hand, construction isn't what it was 10 years ago when I started this career.

It also seems as though you have just answered the question about inviting people from work to your wedding.

Good luck on the job hunt. :finger:
Kick em while they're down. :(
