I found this dog on April 22nd. and have not been able to locate his owner. I posted ads on craigslist,petfinder and contacted local animal controls/shelters along with local vets. I am now trying to work with the Animal welfare society of southeastern Mi in Madison heights to find him a new home. He is around 1 1/2 years old and weighs around 47 pounds. I took him in for shots and had him checked for worms(tests came back negative) He is a friendly dog. I am going to see how he behaves around other dogs tonight. He has shown no aggression in any way with me. I can take his food away from him and there is no problem there. He has chewed a few things around my house when he was alone for hours. He is fine with me checking out and taking care of his ears. He has no problem letting me check his teeth. When I am home he is very calm and relaxed. He is house trained and had one accident since I have had him. I would like someone that is familiar with the breed to adopt him if possible. He is not fixed and will have to be upon adoption per the welfare society. His adoption fee is $175 He walks well on a leash and barks very little. I wish I could take him. I already have two dogs, ones a pitbull as well, and they are very smart and loyal dogs. Mine listens to every word I say and learned very easily what I want him to do without even speaking. I can snap and point, he will go directly where I ask, sit, shake, catch, all the little parlor tricks. Never payed or had any professional train him.

Pits are GREAT dogs, they arent always agressive by nature like most people tell you. They are molded by the owner just like any other breed of dog.

The way you describe him, he will turn out to be just like mine since he was the same way, and he will be a big dog too by the looks of it. Mine is around 100 pounds now.

To be honest I'm not fond of the breed either. This dog was walking around in my neighborhood early in the morning with no collar. He does not have a microchip either. After seeing him walking around I had to turn around and see what the deal was. He ran over to me with is tail wagging. I was sure his owners would contact me. Although he seems a bit skinny, his nails were clipped and his teeth were clean.

I took him over to a friends house with a fixed female shepherd/pit/lab type mix dog(around 75 pounds). He did great. They were running around playing with each other. I tossed a stick and they both went after it and the female grabbed it and he followed behind her trying to get it. My friend also has a small chihuahua that he was interested in playing with but I think being riled up with the bigger dog he would have been too playful with the chihuahua.

How ever I do think the problem with pits are the owners not the dog. As in this case here you have a beautiful looking dog. Obvious the previous owners didn't care about him. I am glad that you got him off the streets.

I'm not sure how he would be with cats. My guess is that he would be annoyingly(if thats a word) interested in the cat. He is a pretty laid back dog. If anyone wants to meet him that's local let me know. If you are not local I would suggest filling out an application to be sort of pre-approved before making a long trip. I'm a little sick right now so next week would be good. I'm not sure about my work schedule so we will see. He does very well on car rides also. Here are a couple more pics.
