Not sure - I do know my neighbor (works at Ford engineering) was complaining today about how bad the Ford's were setup. This guy loves his Fords too. The problem he mentioned was the way it purged its exhaust gases ended up reducing the fuel mileage terribly. Not as advertised.

He must mean a 12v cummins. Mine has no emmisions, but it is over 10 years old. I will need to put the drivetrain in a newer truck some day.

You going to have problems trying to find that info. Because the 6.4L is not in the 2007 models it is in the 2008 models. The 6.0L is in the 2007 models.

As for mileage the 6.4L is averaging at best 15 mpg.

I average 22mpg in my 2002 7.3L unloaded running down the highway.

The 6.7L and the 6.4L are going to be very close to the same mpg

a 6.4 can get about 18 highway. Plan on about 14-15 for combined driving.

during regen, it drops dramatically. The Ford regen takes place at low speeds, city driving. the Dodge regen takes place at highway driving. Both have their plus and minuses, but I think Ford's setup is actually better. If you don't do a lot a highway driving (atleast 1 hour constant speed per week or so), the 6.7L will throw an engine light, which forces you to either 1- drive on the highway at 60+ mph for 45+ mins, or 2- go to the dealer and they can drive on the highway at 60+ mph for 45+ mins and have you pay for it or 3- the dealer can force a regen at the dealership.

my 320,000 mile 97 powerstroke would get 22mpg to alpena and back religously

buy a pre 07 if you are concerned with mileage and hassles in the future. as far as Im concerned the benefits of diesels are just about gone now (in new ones) that they are cracking down on diesel emissions

I removed my catylitic converter and disabled my egr. I get 14.5-16 towing 7k lbs, 15.5 mixed while driving hard, and 16.5-18.5 on the highway, 18.5 is achieved below 2k rpm

Buy an older diesel, In my 2002 F-250 I get 22-21 mpg, while towing I get nothing less then 16mpg. In my opinion get the 7.3L powerstroke or the 24V cummins in a dodge you will be much happier.

yeah I would prolly agree with that. Or the duramax is pretty good too. My brother bought one new in 01 has 180K on it now and the only thing he has done is batteries and alternator. He also has been running a super chip since about 40k miles. My next diesel will be a duramax!
