I picked up a new locker a few weeks ago and I am just getting around to getting it installed and I noticed something on it that I am not sure about.

Is the area that is machined for the bearing to ride on supposed to be concentric to the center portion of the casting (where all the internals are located)? Or is it ok if it is about 3/8" off center to this area. The only issue that I can see with the way mine is machined is that the extreme amount of unbalance will cause vibration and premature bearing failure.

I took it too a driveline shop today and they said it is fine as long as everything runs true, which it does.

Thanks

As long as the ring gear runs true it is fine. But I can see your concern 3/8" is a lot of mold shift for the casting.
