So this last Friday (May 14th) a group of us got to tour around the factory. I don't have as good recollection as others do about the whole thing (Other than the fact it was pretty freakin' cool). But I'm gonna post all the photos that they took of us. We weren't allowed to take in our own cameras, and this is what we were given.

All of us being told how the factory works and a general history of Jeep:

Along the assembly line.

One of the finished products. (The line manager came running up during this picture since we stopped the line and he wasn't aware.)

All of us out front with our Jeeps showing off as best as we could.

perty fun day

Whoever let you that close to a vehicle should be fired.
Please tell me they made you at least wear mutilation protection and tape up the rivets on your jeans.
It was the DC Regional plant manager and Kuka's plant manager. She handed us soccer cleats, chainmail and rolled us in sand.

Some random dude on another forum emailed Chrysler about tours.
I saw the post that they granted two hours before he had to turn in the reservation sheet and I made the cut.
They allowed 20 guests. It was a pretty great experience.
You could tell everyone there was really proud of the place and products.

My bro in law works in Kuka. He and I are supposed to walk it soon.
There you do need all the protective gear. He was telling me Saturday about the paint steps.
Its a wonder Jeeps ever rust with all the chem baths, E-coats and powder coating done these days.

PS I'm the asshole with the Cherokee

Looks like a fun time, I wish I could work there. Back when RBR out in Waterford was open I used to talk to the guy there and he used to work at one of the Jeep plants or whatever, told me quite a few experiences he had. No cool story bro here though.

toledo jeep it the REAL jeep factory even though it's on the site of what used to be the stickney ave assy plant.

the 'real' jeep plant on the south side of I75 was bulldozed. it was soooooo antiquated that in some sections they pushed the bodies on wheeled carts from one section to the other by HAND.

glad you folks got the tour!!!!!!!

In the late 80's I used to take environmental samples for testing from various places in the old Jeep plant. The old plant was a labyrinth of halls, passageways, mystery rooms, and ramps that went from one building addition to the next. The old plant had a very gritty and antiquited feel to it. All in all, a very cool place to be in and think about history of the facility and how it helped us win WWII.

WOOOOPPPP, I spent 9 months there when they were building that. The company I worked (may they rest in peace) installed the color and primer booths. I love driving by there but I haven't actually been in the plant since they got it up and running some 10 years ago....

That was on the northbound side of I-75.
