There’s no test kits. You have to hit certain criteria to be tested so many people could have it. The government sure shit the bed on this one. This will define trumps presidency on how it turns out

I don't buy that at all. This thing wasn't on anyone's radar 3 months ago, now it's shutting down the entire planet. How can anyone plan for that? I think Trump has done a decent job up to this point, trying to keep people calm and giving daily updates and reacting as new data unfolds.
Put simply, medics found that severely ill flu patients nursed outdoors recovered better than those treated indoors. A combination of fresh air and sunlight seems to have prevented deaths among patients; and infections among medical staff.[1] There is scientific support for this. Research shows that outdoor air is a natural disinfectant. Fresh air can kill the flu virus and other harmful germs. Equally, sunlight is germicidal and there is now evidence it can kill the flu virus.

GermanGurl was freaking out. She needed a break from the news, So I put a movie on to calm her. Somehow, “The Crazies” was probably not the best choice.
Just kidding, she wouldn’t watch it.

In my last house we had that corner bottom cabinet that is not easily accessed. I filled it with one gallon jugs of distilled water. I had close to forty under there. Pull as needed replace weekly of when shopping.
The gal living with me used every one without replenishing. When I explained the paradigm of having forty gallons of easily transportable potable water. She accusingly called me a “prepper”. She was the classic minimalist.
What was I prepping for? I don’t know. Three days, not a problem. Two weeks, we can handle it. Two months, I’ll be hunting the neighborhood cats. We got over it, she played my little game. We kept a pantry I figured we could live off of for thirty days, if we had to.

This event should be called the “Election Virus”. Trump will be crucified in the press for every misstep by anybody in government. Democrats are already saying he was slow to act and I don’t see it.

This pandemic scenario scares me shitless, I don’t want to get pneumonia again, it almost killed me.
As a former smoker and someone with heart issues I agree 100%.

He's said some stupid things trying to calm people but coming off as out of touch, and he apparently did shut down some departments that could have gotten a just on dealing with this. But this is a time for putting politics aside and doing what we need to do to get through this and keep people save. I think Trump understands that and is doing that. This is not the time to judge Trump, but that time will come, on November 3rd. Trump is not my first choice as president to go through something like this with, but I don't think Biden is either.

As a diabetic and having a lifelong smoker as a "lady friend" I agree.

A doctor getting info when I woke up from the coma, said “had I not quit smoking, I probably would not survived it”
I quit smoking in 1990.
I had pneumonia in 96/97 and it was rough. I now get congested easy.

Same with a friend of mine after getting walking pneumonia.
I had walking pneumonia three years ago while working out of town, i let it go too long and it took a month and half to fully recover. I dont wish that on anyone. I coughed so hard my rib area was sore for days.
Now that was funny! :sonicjay::sonicjay:
Thanks, case I was referring to the lawnmower guy named (heyzus)
Someone thought I was referring to the other famous guy.

I believe Trump would be the best guy for this. He has this thing about germs and touching other people.

Has anyone heard anything about Dow Chemical going on lockdown, and not letting anyone leave?

Nevermind. I had received inaccurate information.
There will be far more cases confirmed, simply because this and most viruses are never tested for. This will feed the hype and hysteria even more.

My background is in microbiology, and my wife is a molecular biologist, shes the one that actually does these tests, and also now runs the lab that takes the samples and does the tests. The only stress shes feeling is getting the new equipment running she has been asking for for 2 years. The government made the money available and now the hospital rubber stamped it as a result of this.

She was not worried until she saw me checking inventories in case the hood comes looking for easy takings.

My personal feelings is there is a lot the government is not telling us, as with other viruses we lost lots of people and no one lost their heads like this, not enough to decimate the worlds economies anyway.

China will recover fast, slave labor and still plenty of people, the rest of the world, not so much. Then with Wall Street tanked it will make it easier than ever for them to buy up our industry, and economy.

On our end government will use it as an excuse for more control and less freedoms that we will never get back.

That is honestly one of my biggest concerns, that there will be all these regulations and limitations placed; curfews, limites on groups...etc. Then when this clears up, and it will, the government will realize "Hey, people are much more manageable like this" and all these limitations and regulations won't go away.

Look at the patriot act. Whatever good it does, it is still 100% a violation of your rights, but it was passed in a time of desperation, need, and fear; then it never went away and was rationalized every time as we still need, regardless if we really do, it is still in place, long since after the fear and major concerns for it are gone. Almost 20 years later, and now it's just been there so long, nobody really cares to end it, because most people forget it's even still there.

There is a saying amongst federal employees: “There is nothing more permanent than a temporary thing”.
Welcome aboard.

I am trying to wrap my head around the whole thing. I suspect there is more than a fair amount of hyperbole by the media. But then, I watch on TV them taking temperatures at a checkpoint, and I’m reminded of countless germ and zombie movies that begin like that.

I happen to agree with Trump that better weather help the situation, so I’m going with the fresh air and sunshine plan.

The H1N1 “Spanish flu” outbreak of 1918–1919 was the most devastating pandemic on record, killing between 50 million and 100 million people. Should the next influenza pandemic prove equally virulent, there could be more than 300 million deaths globally. The conventional view is that little could have been done to prevent the H1N1 virus from spreading or to treat those infected; however, there is evidence to the contrary. Records from an “open-air” hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, suggest that some patients and staff were spared the worst of the outbreak. A combination of fresh air, sunlight, scrupulous standards of hygiene, and reusable face masks appears to have substantially reduced deaths among some patients and infections among medical staff. We argue that temporary hospitals should be a priority in emergency planning. Equally, other measures adopted during the 1918 pandemic merit more attention than they currently receive.
I don't agree with the weather/temperature theory. Australia is not having any luck with their 80+ degree temperatures.

well, there's also a reason why more people get sick in the winter time. Virus can't survive outside saliva or mucus; in the winter that just freezes and thaws just enough with human contact for that person to contract it, couple that with a lack of sunshine and lack of general well being (people are generally much happier, and feel better in the summer, huge factor is their body's ability to fight infections and viruses). In the summer, that saliva dries up rather quick, and the virus dies off without being able to infect as many people.

warm weather doesn't kill or stop it, it lessons it. CV survives in cool damp areas for like 10 days or something ridiculous, in warm environments that are less damp, it's like 24 hours. Australia is also a very humid country on most hot days.

Just saw a video clip on how to lessen the effects of common colds and corona viruses.
The viruses do survive in cooler temps that are in the sinus and nose. They say those temps are pretty much equal to outdoor temps which the corona thrives in.
Guy says to use a hair dryer to blow towards your nose and breath in with misting your face and nose area. Temps rise high enough to help kill the virus. I believe he said about 136*.
If infected to do this up to 5 times a day and twice a day otherwise during cold and flu season.
If I can load the link here I will.

Boy everybody’s a expert but wrong info. Nobody really knows what’s going to happen when it gets warm
