coronavirus, we're all gonna die..

I used to work for one of the biggest tonneau manufacturers in the world and spent plenty of time as a test mule. I used to think trifolds were great, but I'll never own one again. They work well most of the time, but not as well as other options. I got a top-mount roll up probably 9 years ago and will absolutely never go back. It's just as quick to roll forward as a tri-fold but frees up the entire bed instead of less than 2/3. Just as quick to put back in place and only takes maybe 2 minutes more to remove entirely, but needs to be done far less often since it opens up the whole bed when rolled up. I don't like roll ups that mount inside the bed because they take up space and get beat up with cargo. Top mount like Truxedo Truxsport and Extang Express are great and some of the cheapest out there.

I'm expecting the case count to continue to rise for quite some time. Really curious when the antibody test will be available as there's a growing number of people that feel as if they've already had it.

No question it'll continue to rise, at this point it's just a matter of for how long. Gonna be reeeeeal bad for a long time, that's for sure.

The antibody thing and herd immunity is definitely of major interest to me. I'm starting to see more and more reports though of potential re-infections of recovered patients in places like Wuhan. Scary stuff, although at this point there are obviously lots of variables that could be at play. Plus potentially fast mutation rates of the virus could further complicate things. I'm trying to just roll with it as much as possible since I'm already doing as much as I realistically can to stay healthy and safe.....but I'm a very analytical person and like to have a plan, so it's tough for me to just shut that off and ride the wave.

Sean you already live in a cabin in the woods, you can't do too much more to prepare

Thanks, they had a Dr test positive, which required testing anyone that came in contact with him, she was literally up 24 hours straight. I know that is normal for some in healthcare, but not the lab rats.

Luckily her boss was cool when she said 'yeah I'm not coming in Monday.'

I don't think re-infection is as huge a concern though, because then it would be similar to flu now in regards that the body will still have a better ability to fight the virus as it has the anti-bodies for it to begin with. So even if (when) it mutates, the body will be more prepared to fight it off, versus now where there's no anti-bodies for any form of it.

Then again, i'm also not a doctor, and this is just me thinking out out.

I haven't dug a moat or built a trebuchet yet, so there's still work to be done.

I like and can't disagree with that logic, but I'm worried with how little we still know about this that maybe it's not that simple. Guess we'll find out.

I mean, if you can recover from it one, then like any other corona virus, you can recover from it again. Even ebola patients that recover have antibodies that last 10+ years. Not saying i'm not worried, but this is a big deal because it's a novel virus.

To me, the whole point right now, is to slow the rate of infection, to treat the infected properly, get the over it, and move on until probably everyone has had it. Then even if people get it again, it hopefully won't be as bad as the initial infection.

By staying away from people this will work. It can't spread if people aren't socializing / congregating. I have not left the house since 3/19. My wife has left the house once since 3/17 to get groceries, our son has been home from daycare since 3/17. Hopefully most are doing the same so we can squash this thing and get back to a somewhat normal life.

I admit, I did go run some errands; went to the hardware store, bank drive through, picked up a set of tires for my grandpa's truck.

I could have waited to get to the hardware store, and the truck could wait. My excuse is, I'm trying to get the cleaned up to sell (2010 sierra 1500 if anyone interested :naughty: ).

This week i'm at work, so i'm leaving for that, and my wife will continue to be at work (pharmacy). I don't do any shopping, and she only gets stuff if need a bunch of stuff at once, rather than walking around for one or two items.

I went and got more fuel last night at about 8pm...

In the 25 minutes it took me to fill all my cans I saw 1 car drive by. It was a delivery person for Cottage Inn pizza. Other than that, only semi trucks. Usually Chelsea is a rocking place.

in week 3 of WFH here. My wife goes out for fresh food once a week, otherwise we are chilling out here.

Seems quieter out by me. Not a lot of traffic in the morning and night during the typical times when people left/came back from work. Still consistent cars coming go during the day.

There used to be lots of UTV and quad traffic in the evenings as people cruised around the back roads, but that is way down. Especially given that spring is kinda coming.

It really doesn't seem that dead up here. Could be just because it's a smaller city and there less nonsense traffic, but I don't think that people here are taking the stay home order seriously.

My wife works at the pharmacy and she has said that ever day there's tons of people there, whole families (mom, dad, 5 kids)...etc. We live right on the main road, and traffic is slower, but you'd never know there was any kind of quarantine order in place. Just seems more like a weekend.

It hasn't hit here yet, at least none reported, but it's going to happen. And right now, Alpena has just been lucky, rather than smart.

I'm in the country, but in Bishop Airports Flight Path, it is reminiscent of 9/11 here. Quiet, no contrails, nothing by the chirping birds and trees. Traffic is way down on the main road and the expressway that are a way's away, I normally can somewhat hear those if I listen taking the trash out at night.

Our UTV and motorcycle traffic has been the same or increased though as people bomb around and in between the fields before they get planted.

The road grader is out front of the house. Pretty exciting day.

There's a lake across the road, so I think a lot of the traffic is people using them to drive to each other's houses. It used to be that on weekdays until 5:30 or so there was consistent car traffic, then around 6pm or so it was largely golf carts, utvs, quads.

I'm in the country and have my WFH desk set up with a road view. Traffic around here is never heavy and now seems a little lighter than usual, but if I didn't know it was a stay-at-home order I probably wouldn't notice the difference. I did go into town over the weekend and Walmart looked as busy as usual judging from the parking lot, so that was disappointing. Downtown was definitely sparse. The autoparts store was business as usual, but the little grocery store that I went to instead of high-traffic Walmart was well stock and pretty empty of people. I was in there 30 minutes or so and there were never more than 3-4 customers at a time including me.

Overall from what I'm seeing between roads and social media, the stay-at-home order is having disappointingly little impact and we're going to be in this mess for the long haul. I'd love to be wrong......maybe it's different in the more populated areas.

I noticed that at my place last weekend. Out in the yard playing with my kids and seemed like there was noticeably less noise pollution. I like it :d:
