We don't seem to have a policy.

I was exposed by a supplier who came in, the other engineer and I were sent home until our tests came back negative.

We had a PM who's wife, daughters, and in laws all have it, HR walked up to him knowing that, asked how they were doing, then asked why I was in the office when it wasn't essential. Then it turned out he had it too, sent him home, and 1 person in contact with him...

The thing's people do to stay safe from this don't make sense to me, and neither do the "rules" folks have. If it was Ebola, we'd all be dead.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by this?

I hope that you did not catch it from your coworker or your supplier.
A coworker and I met with someone who later told us they tested positive.

We were sent home until our tests came back.

Another coworker had a house full of COVID and everyone knew it, no one sent him home.

Then, when he came down with it himself, they sent one person home to quarantine.

They're all over the place, day to day.

No travel, no travel out of state, oh that's right, you work for Jeep, Toledo is ok, oh, wait, you went to Toledo? We didn't say SImon Says.

Yeah, we seem to do whatever suits whomever, at that moment.

I personally would rather go about my normal business. I also am fully willing to comply with the policy put in place by the people who pay me.

They just won't put a policy in place, you have to guess seemingly.

I do not think most companies are sure about what to do. My job puts me in part of the evaluation on how to handle it, we are just following the terms on the CDC sight. But, we also use some common sense while we are at it. Then throw in the fact that the rules have changed several times this year, while most people have not seen much change in there personal lives and it becomes more confusing...
My job is not following any set guidelines.

If they did, they'd shut down.

They wanted to send one of my hourly employees home for 2 weeks for going to Virginia in September on her vacation. I found out about it when I returned from Brampton ON...

So I can leave the country on business, but she can't leave the state for fun, because they literally just make up whatever they want each time.

Then, I lost my shit about them sending her home, because she had no warning ahead of time, we have no posted policy regarding that, I'm quite sure legally we can't tell her where to go or not go on her vacation, and they called her back.

Having a policy would be too easy, then they'd have to send home upper management constantly, it would be in writing and easy to understand and follow and enforce. THey don't want that, they want to decide, on the fly, who does what and when. And none of it is keeping anyone safer. My wife literally works 16 hour shifts in the COVID wing of a hospital lmao... I'm a risk everyday.

So, now that the vaccine is rolling out, is everyone onboard with taking it?

My SIL works for Beaumont so she had her first shot the other day. No side effects so far.
I don't think it's CIA mind control or anything off the wall like that, but I don't personally see a reason for myself or wife to get it.

We're 40, reasonably fit, no underlying conditions. With the actuary tables the way they are, I'm at no real risk.

I'm pretty sure everyone is going to get it in the end. Unless they dodge with a vaccine.

Goofy things like allowing movies but not allowing anyone to eat popcorn in the movies isn't going to stop any spread of a virus lol.

I just don't care if I get it. But the results of our antibody tests will really decide whether or not we get the vaccine.

A lockdown would work, if it were a real lockdown. Assuming you care about stopping cases, like, let's leave the fatality rate out of it.

Stay the eff at home, do not leave, curbside pickup only of groceries, contactless payment for fuel.

Nothing else.

Nothing. Not, go make car parts, go to the store and roam around all day, go watch a movie, order food in the food court, stop into the gas station, head to Black Friday and touch everything a million other mothereffer's touched...

We only came close to that at the beginning, everything we've done since is just folly. The only people who aren't essential are indoor restaurant workers now. I'm sorry, but it's not essential that I be able to buy pot, drywall, or continue to work on cars. I'm right back to traveling all over the midwest, in and out of 3 factories a day, 2 gas stations... And it's simply not essential that work continue in the automotive field. Not in the, civilization ending sense.

It really seems all that want to do is give the illusion they're doing something, and beat up on folks who don't have the means to effectively defend themselves.

Do you mean like “it’s only for two weeks to help flatten the curve so we don’t overwhelm our hospitals and resources”?
We did that for the virus. Everything after that was political.

I would be majorly pissed if I spent five, ten years building my own business only to be wipe out by government decree. Then get a $600 check to smooth it over.
That shit is not right.
We did that and it worked, it shows in the data. Lockdowns work. Again, leaving aside whether you even need to care about mitigating this virus at all, or to what age group.

This shit we're doing now, is not lockdowns, it's nonsense.

If I'm being at all unclear, let me be clear here.

I think lockdowns are retarded.

I'm not afraid at all of catching the Rona. I'm simply not in an at risk category, same as the overwhelming majority of folks.

I'm simply saying two things.

1. What we have, is not a lockdown. If this had a 30% fatality rate in all age groups, suddenly lockdowns would be totally feasible and everyone would quit fucking around at the coffee shop and get on board. Because a real lockdown, actually works.

2. Since we're not willing to commit to an actual lockdown, the bullshit we are doing, is pointless, capricious, and flatly stupid. You can watch a movie, buy popcorn, but not eat the popcorn in the theater. You can go in the store with a thousand other idiots touching everything. You can go work on top of some stranger, for 10 or 12 hours, who goes God knows where when he leaves and does God knows what with any amount of people doing literally the same thing.

The shit we're doing, is not going to do a thing to stop the spread of a communicable disease. Which, also shows in the data, where it's not doing a thing to stop the spread of the communicable disease.

What it does do, is give the illusion to stupid people that politicians are DOING SOMETHING to stop the spread.

My whole point, simply, is if you're not going to do everything to stop it, then do nothing and leave people alone.

At this point, I've concluded either I'm immune by some miracle and so is my wife, or we've both had it and didn't even notice it.

I work for FCA, I meet dozens of people weekly, travel all over the midwest, since the pandemic I've been to Brampton ON twice, TNAP monthly, HQ weekly, I went to Mississippi, New Orleans, Alabama, all over the UP...

I eat out everywhere I go, when I can.

I wash my hands, like I always have because I'm not a heathen.

I wear a mask where mandated, it's cloth with giant gaps around the seams.

I go to flea markets, stores, factories... I eat out at the naughty restaurants that stay open when I can.

My wife works in the Covid wing of her hospital.

Other than the initial scare at the end of last February with 10% death rates out of Italy, we've done literally no quarantining whatsoever.

I'm really the poster child for someone who should have had this, and by some lunatics wishes, died a horrible death.

Now that I've posted this, I'll probably die of Covid next week lol.

People tend to latch on to any shred of proof for things they like and ignore everything to the contrary.

It's interesting to me that the typical anti-vax left is all in on COVID vaccines, while the typical pro-vax right is all against them lol.

Personally, I still see no reason to get one for myself, same as the flu. I'm simply not on a high risk category if I do contract it.

Yeah, sure, I can send 20 bucks and a pic of my card off somewhere... Like registering a service animal or stupid Foxbody Mustang or something...

But there's literally no proof anywhere I had a shot, except for my card. I suppose Rite Aid might have something, but I wouldn't count on it.

My Dr. doesn't have it, just made a note in my file.

I'd be equally surprised if you can pull any meaningful information from it.

Not to mention Biden and his administration repeatedly stating there is no database, they don't intend to build one, and they have no plans of forcing anyone to take anything.

People do love to freak out over everything though.
