i am posting this question for a friend of mine that is doing a complete rebuild of a cj5. his question is about the proper engine angle. he had heard that the rear of the motor was supposed to be 3 degrees lower than the front. does anyone have any insight on this? if it is 3 degrees, is that in relation to flat ground, or the frame. any info would be greatly helpful.

If he is leaving the jeep suspension stock there is no need to change the angle of the motor, trans & case but if he's doing a suspension lift, please post what kind and how much lift its going to be. If theres going to be 3-4" of lift it would be a good idea to drop the trans/skid plate 1 1/4 - 1 1/2" This would help the rear driveshaft angle. And not a bad idea to shim the rear axle with a 3 or 4 degree shim. If this doesnt get rid of any rear driveshaft vibration then plan on finding a rear driveshaft with a double carden joint. If you need a rear shaft I might have one the right length depending on what tranny you have.
What motor, tran, case and axles are you using? How much lift, if any.....

not sure which motor and trans he is using but i will email him and ask. i think his reason for asking is because he is building a custom crossmember and just wants to make sure he has the motor and trans at the right angle for proper oil and trans fluid operation. the jeep is quite tall as he runs 36" swampers on it, but not sure the exact inches of lift.
