is it normal to have 2" wide springs on the front and 2 1/2" wide springs on the rear? 86 cj 7 d30/d44 im starting to order parts for a SOA and was taking some measurements tonight and noticed they were different.

The YJ's had 2.5" front springs, and those are a popular upgrade for CJ fronts. They ride better, and generally flex better as well. However, you will have to either swap the perch on the frame, or get conversion shackles.

Its up to what you want out of the jeep, and what you use it for

The rear spring mount for the front spring doesn't have to be swapped out for YJ springs- the CJ uses the same frame mounts F&R with wider bushings in the front. You will need to swap wider shackles and shackle mounts, however.
