i have a older pre 72 dana44 and was wondering what carriers and axles will swap in. was hoping the newer stuff would work.

I didn't know they changed the axle in '72. as far as i know all dana 44 carriers are interchangable.

yup they interchange Just watch the spline count on the inner axle shafts also a Corp 10 bolt has the same stub shafts as the 44 if you happen to break one and are looking for one.

the problem im having is the older style carriers are harder to get inner shafts for so i would like to swap them out for the newer style. do i have to stick with just chevy or are their any other brands that will fit like a waggy?

only options in new d44 carriers are the break - 3.73 and down, or 3.92 and up, numerically.
