The TJ has been out of commission with a valve issue on cyl 3. Since it's been in and out of the shop for a while, I looked at renting a car (again) for a few days.

The initial rental was $40/day, which wasn't too bad, because I requested a larger vehicle. I looked into renting for the remainder of this week - and they want $60/day for a frickin economy class vehicle.

Is there some trick I'm missing, or does someone have a hookup for cheaper rentals?

I know it's sometimes cheaper if you rent by the week, but I only need a few days.

Rent it for a week and take it back early, and there's plenty of coupons out there to get a discount or an upgrade or two. I can usually find a standard size car at an airport for < $250 a week. Here's a code for National for one weekend day free: NF4861ADM. You have to rent it from 3 to 5 days with a Saturday night included. Comes out to $130 from Lansing Airport from a Thursday to a Monday for a Pontiac G6 size vehicle. Ann Arbor airport has about the same prices. Metro is about $100 more for the same thing.
