I assumed I just gave people money, and a barn would appear. Nope, Twp has told me 7 different thing on what I can build. Finally get actual rules on it, and turn in the paperwork to get permits. Put it is a pre assembled moveable structure in the permit, barn company said that all they should need. Twp wants "Prints", barn company says they shouldn't need them, but I can get them once they have a Deposit. WTF? Now I contacted the other Barn company I was contemplating, they said it shouldn't be a problem to me "prints". I can't wait until all this shit is over and I can crack my first beer in there, I just hope its before 2023.

Hopefully they get this shit sorted out for you. I can't imagine the headache of doing "anything" anymore post covid. It seems like everyone knows NOTHING and does NOTHING anymore.....
In the end it will get sorted out, its just a matter of how big I can go, and how many headaches along the way.
Well I found out the deposit is refundable, and I guess its the norm, because the other place wouldn't send the prints either. So I guess I'm gonna put deposit down so their builder can send info the twp needs.

That's pretty shitty.

My builder and Menards had it all figured out, between them they knew exactly how to spec it to pass my townships little hole inspection and building permit.

Beyond the hole inspection, no one ever even came and looked lol.
Part of my problem is I have a small yard, and my house is set back pretty far, and I have to be 40' from back property line, and front of barn had to be behind the front of the house. So my spot to build is like 22x47, and im building 20x45, so its right on the border of being to big. And that is if the twp goes by the 5' from another building they state in one spot, and not 10' they state in another.

Well I guess they approved all the setbacks, and size, but have to change pitch on roof, and need longer overhangs on end of building(no big deal). But here is the one that hits the pocketbook, I have to have 12x42 footings, and not just rat wall like I thought. Wonder how much more that is gonna cost me.

Yup, Just another "tax" I get the inspection fees, as it requires someone to come to me, but the 60% of what I paid today was bullshit Fees.

I found out how much the Foundation instead of ratwall is going to cost, an extra $4,000. Happy I built an extra $10K over original quotes into the budget.

I guess I did not catch it yet- are you doing a stick-build barn or pole barn construction? Trying to figure out the footing thing yet?
I'm doing all metal, When I first started researching all of this, the saving on the building would pay for spray foam insulation. Now that I found out I have to have full foundation because of that, I think I should have gone stick built.

3 weeks until Concrete work starts, I'm starting to realize this barn isn't going to be ready to use until almost fall time.

Spot for Barn is dug up, and sand down, but weather/schedule won't allow footings to be dug until next week. But on the plus side my approach to the garage, and the bad pad in the garge got replaced today.

Yea, the rest of the garage ls good enough, far from perfect, but garage will only be for parking. Barn will be where shit gets worked on.

20'x45'x14' walls. I wanted to do more like 35x35, or 30x35, but my yard size and the setbacks caused this to be the widest and longest I could do.

Oh, forgot to mention, when the inspector came out to inspect the footings, he said "Oh BTW you need gutters in your building. There goes another $1500, but I'm actually Ok with having gutters.

I am no barn expert, but my uncles barn and my buddies barn both have gutters. I think that's the way to go. if you wanna be really slick, have them do french drains and run them underground.
Yea, it makes sense to have, I would like to do french drains.
Are you going to install leaf covers?
My shop doesn't have gutters, but i also knew when i built it that it was getting a lean to addition on each side. No gutters does suck because the sidewalls get dirty as shit from splash back... not to mention erosion on the side that doesn't have gravel. It will have them once the additions are complete.
I would like to install leaf filters, 14' sidewalls and I don't like heights, I don't want to go up there ever. And what you said makes me feel better about spending extra on it.

Garage doors are included in the build. They haven't said anything about being backordered. I think they said 2-3 weeks ago last Monday, So I'm expecting a call about something being backordered next week. Hope I'm wrong, but that's just what I expect nowadays.

Mine were included in the kit.

As the barn was being built they said, btw, we can't get your door for four months.

Once I found one I was easily able to get a credit though.
I think this place actually builds everything in house, so I'm hoping not.

Got red flagged for a little while due to concrete being put down after the foundation inspection, but didn't get a compaction inspection done. Luckily I had pics, and they pulled the red flag. Barn is scheduled to be erected July 11th.
