We have AT&T U-verse. No complaints other than the mystery $20.00 per month charge they just tried to add on a couple months ago. Wife called and got it lowered back down again for 6 months. After that we have to call and complain again to get another 6 month reduction.

What exactly is that charge for? I don't recall that happening when I went frm Grand Blanc to Highland.
They claim the new address has been physically disconnected, although I was just there yesterday and saw all the cable connections.

I told them to the physical connection, and I will install the equipment I already have that I'm not paying them $80 to do something I can do in less than 15 minutes.

They wouldn't budge on it.

I told them if that's the case, do that and I will install everything in the house. They won't even let me do that. I told them AT&T was $30, and I'm switching to them. They said sorry.

I vote don't even bother. Call them and tell you are switching to another company. Then tell them you will convince other people not to do business with them and tell them you are referring said people to your new provider. Oh and tell them Tranny Tom said EAT SHIT!

I just switched from Comcast to U-verse. I'm pretty happy with it so far. There were some issues with it to start but they have everything sorted out. I was concerned about the speed of there internet because the cheapest it gets it like $35 a month and is only 3 meg. I thought it would be way slower then Comcast but it actually seems faster. I definitely like the whole house DVR and the capacity of the U-verse DVR is like 20 times more then my Comcast DVR.

The reason I switched is because Comcast raised my bill and when I called them they couldn't do anything to lower it except take stuff away. When I actually called them to cancel after I got U-verse installed they told me that I should have called them (which I did) because they could lower the price back to what I was paying before they raised my rate. I already had U-verse so I still cancelled. The next day they called to verify that I wanted to cancel and they said they could actually make it cheaper then what I was paying before If I stayed with them.

I got tired of Comcast and switched to U Verse about a year ago
-cheaper
-better HD choices
-they aren't complete idiots on the phone if you have a question
-I miss having all 8 of my TV's connected (yes I have a TV in the closet where I iron clothes!)
-I liked the Comcast menu setup better - you could just show movies, or just show sports, or just show kids' programming. The new U Verse feature is better, but still not as good
-almost forgot, I like the free DVR

I signed up for AT&T, going in on June 11th. 250 channels, DVR, 6 mbps internet for $95 for six months, then $117 after that. $30 for installation. I also get a $200 Visa gift card for being a new customer. I'm paying $105 a month right now for Comcast for 6 mbps internet, no DVR, and a third of the channels that I'll get with AT&T. Only one call I had with Comcast was the guy really helpful. The few other times I've been on the phone with them, it's like pulling teeth to get any help.

I agree with Pokerob that the pole connection fee is not something they waive. However, there is a self-install option for the inside hardware. I do it each time I set up service. Oh well.

If they want to keep a customer, they can waive an $80 fee. Is $80 > $0? Why risk charging $80 if it leads to losing a monthly paying customer. If they wanted to keep his business they should have hooked it up free of charge, it wasn't his fault the previous customer had it disconnected at the pole. Comcast sucks. I'll say it again... I hope they go out of business.

I would have been fine with just $30 for the tech visit, and I install everything else inside my house. But $80 is nuts when they've gotten $2400 out of me the past two years.

I 100% agree. I had a box go out and my contract was up. They wanted $120 for a new one a laughed in the reps face and canceled. They tried to charge me $80 for a disconnection fee, I laughed again, and said I don't think so nice try. I will never do business with them again.

Yea, that's some BS.

At least you have options. Its dish or brighthouse cable where I live, DSL, U-verse, ect. all are unavailable. Paying just under a hundred a month for internet and BASIC NON DIGITAL CABLE.
In Livonia?
