Thanks to muddypawzzzzzzz I had to start another thread..

So i have a 1997 Dakota 3.9L and I need to upgrade to a bigger power
steering pump. Anyone know what will fit and what wont? I am running
33's now and the stock pump is just not strong enough anymore.

Just curious but can you upgrade to a durango steering box or something like that? I know that this is an easy upgrade for an XJ being they have the same hookups and are a bigger bore box.

So anyone have any knowledge of this like has anyone done it????? I don’t want to buy a Durango’s pump if it won’t even work....
And what is hydro assist staring? I know it’s just a hydraulic cylinder but where do you get it and do you need another pump?

I'd be interested in knowing if the ps pump on a V8 Dakota is larger. Seeing as so much of the 318 and the v6 share archetecture I wonder if it would bolt into the accessory drive.

I have my '88 YJ stock steering pump from the 4.2L I-6 mounted on my Mopar 360. Just have to make a bracket.
