I bought my Athlon 64 X2 4200+ (ADA4200DAA5BV) from NewEgg for $63.50 on 10/26/2007.

Now that same chip is hard to find for $100 used. I've seen it for $200...
This one sold on eBay for $61 with broken/bent pins.

WTF? I need a 939 chip for the DVR I am building, I thought I may upgrade my box to a Athlon 64 X2 4800+ (ADA4800DAA6CD) and move my 4200+ into the DVR.

Guess not.

If its anything like some of the older core 2 duo intel's, they go for big bucks because people are swapping them into older stuff that happens to accept that one particular chip. Can't believe that many people bid on a trashed chip though. :teehee:

939 is discontinued. They know you'll pay for it if you want it that bad.

I need to upgrade to AM2 :( I'll be sticking an X2 6000+ in it when I do. My X2 3800+ already has no problems playing any games I have, cant imagine what it will take to slow one of those down.

Dude, skip ebay and head over to Hardforum and hit the FS section. You can get close to the same chip you're looking for for like $50. I just picked up a 3600 X2 for under $50.

It is nuts though because people are calling them "rare" now that people need them and they are discontinued.
