We were talking about this at work today along with all the security/ money issues for a speech.

Secret Services does not rent cars.....There has been a cargo plane here for 3 days that flew all the secret service vehicles here. They are also using 3 Marine ones to fly the biig guy here from GR.

Wood tv said it cost 56,000 per hour to operate just Air Force One. Forget Marine one two and three. Plus the two press helicopters. I have seen the plane before, along with a motorcade, but the organization and production is incredible.

There is an old Air Force One at the Museum of Flight here in Seattle. I stopped to go in the other day, but only had a very short time in which they were still open, so I've opted to go back next weekend. The F-14A out front is f'n awesome!!!

There's a really good show on the process it takes for the president to travel, I think it was on the National Geographic channel. Logistically, it's insane.

There's two Air Force One's and they fly them both to the same location as a backup. Not to mention the multiple military cargo planes that carry the helicopters, limos, cars, security teams, etc. They have guys on the ground days before doing all kinds of logistical stuff (measuring runways, testing the on-site jet fuel, setting up security, etc.).

I would like to see that one, AF1 couldn't land in Kzoo because it was too big, imagine that. There is a massive transport plane that comes in and out of Ford airport, one of the biggest / coolest things I have seen in my life.

well i have been on andrews air force base where all the stuff is stored and the hanger they store everything is huge and they are also getting rid of two marine ones cuz obama said so which i think is dumb

I heard they were there so I was looking through the building as I drove by, I was shocked when I saw it sitting there, it was bigger then the buildings it was behind.

It was at the west side along portage road if you want to go see it.

The transport plane that carries the cars flew over my apartment after Gerald Ford's funeral. That thing was huge, and it took off on a flight path I've never seen (never went directly over my apartment at a couple of thousand feet at the most). It shook everything in my apartment and knocked a picture off the wall. Cool to watch, though,

Agreed. Anything with a big enough gun to stall the plane in flight when its being used is pretty awesome in my book.
