I've been holding out for a dc welder, but theres alot of ac thunderbolts and the buzz box lincolns for sale on cl cheap. Either one worth the $$?

i have a ac lincoln andit works good...
however to do it again id rather have the ac/dc verson...
i have been told that you can reverse the leads and it welds DC ??but i have no way to confirm

Wait until you can get a DC version. You'll be a LOT happier in the long run. There's a reason CL is flooded with the ac versions......

Jeepguy if you go over to the wall and unplug the lamp and flip the plug over do you think the electric current is gonna go from ac to dc? Just sayin.... someone is feeding you a line of poo. If you flip the leads on a dc machine you can go from dcep to dcen or dcsp to dcrp, but that's not quite the same thing.

no, you cant. thats only in dc to reverse polarity

U don't want AC it supposed to weld cleaner but pain in a## to keep weld going on once it lose lite it glue to material you weld instant.

I prefer my 2 welder generators they are DC and people can weld like butter.

Save up, get a good MIG, and never look back.

I have a Thunderbolt and it is a great welder. If I had to choose between the miller and lincoln would choose the miller.
