We stacked a bunch of rigs on tires in a grouping. Kinda funny listening and watching the reactions of people who haven't seen guys do that before.

I made a few passes on the track. But I think you may have probably left by that point.

I saw you guys up there Sunday! I lol'd when I saw it.

It's got a speed density tune right now and I think we're going to keep it that way so I don't have to worry about my MAF. I was stuck in a creek at the badlands for a good 30 minutes cause my MAF got wet and I know I'm not the only one who has had this happened too, my brother had it at the dunes and I'm pretty sure I remember @firehawk having it happen at rocks and valleys

Are there even benefits of a MAF tune instead of SD?

If a MAF gets even the smallest drop of water on it the computer freaks out and the motor will not run or at a huge loss of power. SD ignores the MAF

I know...that's why I'm asking if there would ever be a benefit to running a MAF tune. It seems like SD is hands down the way to go. I'm glad my Jeep doesn't have a MAF

MAF is nice for drag guys who are either WOT or no throttle. With a MAF running WOT your computer will be able to judge air/fuel mixtures better but nothing I would be able to ever notice. Drag guys will when things get down to a 10th of a second or less

Yea they dont like getting wet, thats why I flipped my intake around.

You just have to watch your AFR with a speed density tune and it helps if you can tune it yourself and have a wideband to monitor it. My new TJ is set up that way.

Another reason why I wish I bought that TJ

In moab, with Temps going from 65-105 degrees throughout the day, and elevation changes up to 10,000 feet. I'm glad I had maf on mine. SD I'm sure would of made life horrible.

Most drag guys prefer SD from what I've heard. My tuner runs SD on his 1100HP car.

We converted a buddies buggy to SD years ago because his MAF was f'd up and he never had any issues either. He ran all over the midwest, down south and the hammers.

My tuner thinks that using a MAF is the best for what we do with our rigs. I had issues getting the MAF dirty until I flipped the intake, my new 6.2 also has the intake flipped and I have a 3 stage UNI filter on it. Get a can of MAF cleaner and carry it with you. ;)

Was his car naturally aspirated? As soon as you get into boost it sounds like SD is the way to go no matter what

I talked to Matt @ driven industries for a while last night and did a bunch of reading this morning. From what I have found as long as your SD tune was done right all of this should be a non issue.

Yeah, as long as you get the air tables set up right it should be fine. If it's fudged and can't account for variation then you're screwed.

Yup, I have trust in Matt to get it done right. Still haven't 100% decided but still leaning towards SD, a lot of people say the throttle response is noticeably quicker versus a MAF tune

A MAF only tune, or one that takes advantage of MAF, MAP, and TPS?

Depending on the system, some MAF sensors incorporate the IAT into the MAF. I believe the early Gen3 stuff had it separate, but as time progressed I think it was integrated.

MAF that uses all the other sensors as well
