i have a 94 explorer with the 4.0 liter 5 speed 4x4 problem im having is it wont idle and runs rough at low rpms, ive changed plugs, wires, fuel and air filters, AIC control, throttle position sensor, and its still the same, ive checked to make sure the plug wires are right for firing order, and now im lost and and dont know where to go next, it runs fines at highway speed, and starts right back up when it stalls, it does seem to kind of lay down once in awhile when driving normal 55 60 miles per hour, but doesnt stall just feel kind of a like i let off the gas feel then goes fine agian,
any and all advice would be greatly apprieciated, or if you might know whatitis and live near coopersville or in the area and want to make some money fixing it let me know, i can always use a good mechanic looking to make some side money,
thanks in advance for theadvice

this could be a # of things. Before pumping in more money i would make sure you have a good diagnostic. My first thought is Vaccuum, second is EGR sticking open if you have it. you should be able to test for both.

my experience with fuel pumps is idle with no acceleration, this is the opposite

Check on the intake by the brake booster, there is a cluster of vacumn lines that go into the intake vacumn tree there.

Check your MAF sensor, it might be dirty, when I was trail riding my old explorers every now and then the MAF would get dust on it or wet from water :)teehee:) and it was run like dog shit at idle/off idle but rev fine.

update on the exploder, i fixed it, have a buddy with 80 acres and dirtbike track built on it, lets just say theres a few more problems with it now then before, still doesnt idle or even start now, took a hell of a beating though, one little rollover and it quit running,
now i have a f-150, it runs great, but its a girl truck cause its 2wd, works for work though.
thanks everyone for the advice, i think it was a vaccumm leak, tried everything else.
it was just a scrap heap anyway.

i highly suggest if you have apeice a crap just sitting there, find a field and have 10 minutes of fun with it. if i could do it all over agian i would of seen if i could have caught big air off the big hill, but at the time my balls werent big enough i guess

I'll slam old ass junkers into stumps n try to roll them in the field before taking em to the salvage yard. My junk yard don't give a damn. Drag pull or drive it across the scale, always make sure to cut off the converter and cash it in, ford converters doesn't pay too much............but foreign ones pay good money.
