You know it's a good season so far when you've spent more time riding and camping than you have wrenching...we've gone on a few trips this year with the new set up and it has worked great. About a month ago I picked up a new truck, I flew down to Alabama and grabbed a rust free southern diesel for cheap. Last week I picked up a new RZR, newer and lower miles than my current one plus this one is turbooooo. Going to swap all the performance parts from my XP1000 onto this new unit and sell the XP1000. Misc pics below.

Also, the weekend of June 7 Ultra4 is racing at the Badlands if anyone is interested in watching a race in person.

Pounded some miles on the new RZR this weekend, nothing major other than blowing a belt and absolutely winding it through everything. The clutches in the Turbo are pretty whopped out so I bought new ones and have a weight and spring kit coming from Evo so hopefully that'll get me dialed in. Hopefully everything shows up before we leave for Badlands next week. This weekend I need to work on swapping all my radio and comms stuff over from the 1000 to the turbo as well as the billet rear arms.

I'm on a search that I'm not having much luck with...I'm looking for new harnesses for the Turbo. Looking for cam lock, 5 point, and 3" straps that are bright pink in color. I can find what I need other than the bright pink color...If anyone has any leads it would be appreciated. Hopefully they exist and I just haven't stumbled across them yet

Finally got around to putting my first RZR back together...That being said, I'm going to have a 2017 RZR XP 1000 for sale. It will be stock other than an OEM windshield and upgrade suspension from a RZR turbo on it. It's going out next week to have a fresh reverse chain put in the transmission, then it'll be posted up. If you're interested, shoot me a message. If super interested, message me before I take it to have the trans gone through and we can negotiate pricing.

Nothing crazy lately. Just a lot of riding. 95 hours on my dirt bike so far this summer which feel like a decent amount. I also built a 106 gallon fuel tank for my truck and plumbed it into my filler neck, I got sick of stopping for fuel every 2 hours on the highway when towing...Hands down one of my favorite creature comfort upgrades I've ever done.

Here's some random pictures from the past couple months of riding, camping, etc. Steph loves the new rzr, she's probably put 500 miles on it in the last month or two. She's pushing 1,000 miles this season on the two rzr's combined.

I've been watching this thread for... years.

I've been getting more interested in offroading again after being out for a long time. Side-by-Sides have piqued my interest.

A lot of the Olds have side by sides at work. Once in a while I'll get to go ride around in one to help with something (usually a rattle or squeak or vibration that the dealer won't acknowledge). Most of the time it has been shit braking systems not designed to stop 2500lb+ repeatedly or the fact that most of them are held together by self-tappers.

The ones made in the last five years are pretty sweet. It's weird not lifting for an obstacle. It reminds me when I weighed half as much and raced dirtbikes as a kid. Pick a line, and hold the stupid pedal to the floor until you pass your guardian angel. Definitely a hoot.

However, I was in a brand newish (like 100 miles) RZR Pro R last week. I think it's the fourth one he's had that I can remember. The thing is fucking huge. It's the size of a Rubicon and cost as much. It's incredibly uncomfortable, unless you're going fast. I guess like a sport bike. I got him to take it to a scale after I beat on it a bit... 2620lbs with no one in it. He has some accessories and the tires/wheels are way heavier than factory. It is definitely under-braked. With him and I in it, it felt like a 15lb/hp car. No complaints.

But he paid $40k+ for it and spent half his sale price on the last one to buy accessories. And it has more rattles than a Dodge Caliber and the fit and finish looks like Helen Keller was trying to teach Stevie Wonder how to put one together. I want to say he paid like $14k all in for his first RZR back in probably 2012... which seemed like a lot then.

Now that they're so big and expensive, why haven't they plateaued and people switch back to long-travel suspension on a Jeep?

I sold all my off road rigs and wound up with a 1996 Jayco 7.3 powered class C motorhome, aluminum car hauler weighing 1200lbs, and a 4 seat 2021 Turbo S. I bought the turbo s at 8 months old, with 6,000 in accessories, and 400 miles for 24,000 a few years back. The RZR itself MSRP'd for 32k before taxes, dealer fees, etc. I found one with all the accessories (most) that I wanted, and as low of miles/hours as possible.

It has hauled my whole family around and other than fluid changes and occasionally blowing out the clutches (still on the same belt) I have used it 2 years and 1,000+ miles with not a single issue. I haven't spent time at a junkyard pulling parts, or driving across the state to pick up obscure parts and wrenching all night until early morning for trip prep. I don't need a deckover trailer to pull the thing and 3 spare axles, two transfer cases, and other spare parts 8 hours one way to the closest obstacles that are any sort of challenge. I still have an older, paid for diesel truck but 75% of the time we are cruising down the highway in the class C, with 3500lbs behind us on a dual axle trailer, requiring far less maintenance and more comfortability. We are no longer in a tent and our favorite riding times (spring/fall) are much more feasible in colder, wet weather when there's a heated place to sleep, and an awning to play cards under when it rains. We can head up north and put an easy 150 miles or way more on in a weekend vs. 300 yards and spending all day winching and wrenching to get back to camp.

Trail riding doesn't beat up your body in a rig like this, your wallet, your trailer, etc. It has been far more relaxing for my wife and I and with a newborn coming this fall a much easier way to include our latest family member. I guess that's part of growing up but a short novel on why I got out of the serious rock crawling/off-roading stuff. I still want to find an old pickup to "build" and get back to running condition to cruise the roads, as a form to scratch the build itch - but for pure relaxing, beautiful country outside, you can't beat a sxs. If you want to hammer trails/dunes at 60 mph+ you can, but we find ourselves getting lost on obscure roads chit-chatting and going 10mph just soaking in the beauty even more.

Man, I'm getting old.

Sorry to hijack Collin, but I've been following along too since the good 'ol days, and hadn't logged in in along time and figured I'd help shed some insight. I totally understand the hate against the sxs crowd, but dang has it been refreshing for us. Glad to see you're still out there enjoying things.

No problem man, have at it. I have zero regrets about getting rid of my Jeep and going SXS. Easier to deal with, easier to work on, more comfortable trail riding, etc. I think only once in the last two years have I come across obstacles that made me miss my Jeep. The other 2500 miles I've done I'm way happier with the RZR.

Hell yea, great to hear you're wanting to get back into it. Like I just said to Luke, I have no regrets ditching my Jeep for a RZR. If you don't need newest of the new, buy something used. I bought my 2018 Turbo for $10k cash. I got a sweet deal on it and it needed some maintenance, but I think I still came out on top. There's no way I could justify the $30k-40k units though.

I do have my 2017 XP1000 for sale, if you're interested. Lots of maintenance / prep done to it this past winter before we took it out to KOH to use on the desert loop, also has upgrade shocks, axles, etc.
