Ok, found the thread on pirate from the original build. Chopperman built it with 6" of lift compared to stock. Somewhere in there he said you might be able to get away with 4" if you made some other compromises. Either way, super clean execution.

I'll say, it's a nice clean build. 6" is actually pretty low if you can get 37-40" tires under it. That's where mine is 6.5" over stock, stuffs 40's like no other at that height. I have some changes coming for mine. I'll try to update my thread when it finally happens, maybe by mid summer I'll be working on it lol.

Keep at it siettas, if you take your time and build it with a keen eye on things, you'll have a bitchin' rig. I'd like to wheel with you some day after it's done!

last night cleaned up axle and cut truss up to fit axle good and ground on frame and got her ready for plating in, also couple more goodies came in the mail, new header gaskets and ARP bolts to fix the lovely ls manifold exhaust leaks.

cut out all 6 peaces for plating in the frame last night with the hand held plasma cutter. still need to hit them with the grinder before welding them into place

So the plate is held on better. Just welding the edges leaves lots of possibilities for problems. By making holes you essentially weld the center of the plate to frame as well. They don't have to be centered. Just put them in areas that you can weld to frame. More weld surface=stronger build.

yeah for sure i plan to do something like that. the pic of the plates clamped to frame is just the start to my mock up.

ranger is sweet man, my roomate is building a prerunner in my garage right now, should be on the sand this year
