The back tab does say 231d however everything on the 231j & 231d case are the same except the front housing that may or may not be clocked slightly different.

for 150$ you get the sye kit and a full case regardless if you can only use the back half and internals. I was planning on installing in into my t-case with new bearings anyhow to insure a great working case. 231 cases are easy to take apart and back for the average mechanic.

I think the d case has the wide chain... So it's actually better
