I wouldn't mind a midsize truck, if it was 10-15k cheaper than a fullsize and got a good solid 7-10mpg better.

But, they aren't, and they don't, so I don't understand the point of them.
Yup. I had a 2001 Ranger ex cab 4x4 3.0L and it was alright until you needed to transport more than 2 people. Fuel economy wasn't any better than my 06 f150 CC 4x4. The only thing I like about a compact/midsize truck is that easier to maneuver. I have a feeling that this new Colorado will be the last Colorado offered. Full size trucks are putting out impressive mpgs and will continue to. The costs of all vehicles are high, so there's no getting around that.

I was bored so I went and did the "build and price" on Chevy's website. I built several Colorados and Silverados and no matter what the configuration was, (similar options on both trucks) the Colorado seemed to be 5K less than the Silverado any way you looked at it. 5K more for a full size, but you get a lot more truck.

Like I said, 7/8 truck for 7/8 price.

I got bored at work and did some research, the 4 door 6.5' bed version is almost identical to a 88-98 k1500 extended cab short bed full size chevy/GMC regarding exterior dimensions.

The extended cab version of these can fit an adult of my size but not comfortably for long.

Buy a full size and be happy.

Yes, but 1 full size pickup can basically replace your vehicles you have now. Put a topper on, and you can do just about anything you need to do.

I would wait a model year and read up on them. They are supposed to be getting a diesel next model year so it might be worth the wait

Well, if you're kind of set on one of these....I guess you have have a couple options: buy a gasser now and do what you wish; wait until next years Colorado comes out and possibly buy a diesel; or continue on without one.

Drove through the chevy dealer lot last night, they had a new colorado sitting out front in the fancy spot. After looking at it I asked myself two questions: 1) why did they desigin it to look like a toyota? and 2) that thing is basically the same size as a fullsize truck, so why the hell would you buy one?

The one I looked at was an extended cab 6.5' bed. Disregarding it being ugly as hell, i see no point in buying that compared to a fullsize

It's cheaper and gets better mileage.:poke:

The canyon with an automatic and 4wd V6 you're rated at 18/24 and a 2015 silverado is rated at 18/24 (v6) and 16/23 (V8).

To me that doesn't really equate to "better" mileage, it should be MUCH better than that since it is a "midsize" truck.

It does cost less, but I'd say it cost less at the expense of resale and practicality.

Add to that the fact that the silverados v-6 is designed from the get go to be a truck motor.....it gives up 15 hp but has significantly more torque right where you need it. The Colorados v-6 is re purposed from the camaro....it's not a truck motor. The v6 silverado feels like a rocket ship compared to the Colorado.

Same mileage, more capabilities, more power where you need it....it's just not even a contest
