my brother has a 2001 ram 2500. pinion seal went out and he did nothing about it. now the carrier, ring and pinion are destroyed !! ive got a 87 ram with a dana 60 rear and dana 44 front. will my gears work for his truck? he wants to up grade but has very little money so im trying to help him out.

dana 44 and dana 60 4:10 from 87 ram (passenger drop front)

his 2500 ram has a dana 44 front and dana 60 rear. (driver drop front) 3:55

i've told him he's going to need a carrier for the rear cause of the abs ring but i don't know about the front if he can use my stuff... im sure he can use the dana 60 ring and pinion

Pretty sure they all got 60 fronts, my cummins does
Nope. BR2500LD's were available with D44 fronts and D60 rears.

They may have stopped after a certain year, but a 5-lug pattern on a 2500 pretty much ends the argument. Dodgeboy, what lug pattern does the 2001 have?

well my brother was wrong about the front its a 60! as the truck was in south carolina and when i went down there where he lives and fixed it. its a 2001 and its a 8 lugger. thanks for all the info as i also found out the gears that where already in it where 4:10 so i only had to re do the rear end. i used my carrier just to get him up and moving to get back and forth to work. but he said he could deal with the abs light until he gets more money for a carrier

thanks alot for the help
