2 time award winning Project "YJ-8 Wrambler"

Haven't updated this in a while
The 1/4" skidplate has been holding up great as expected

I have gone through my front end and put a new stock passenger shaft in with a fresh spicer and tacked caps after I destroyed the caps on the old spicer after the ears stretched
I also installed new spicer ball joints
It got a couple new u bolts and 2 new center pins because those were broke as well

Had a great trip down to the badlands a couple weeks ago but I made a bad frame situation worse

So this winter there is going to be a frame chop and gas tank reconfigureor relocation along with obvious frame repairs
I also made it to the Ionia event which was pretty cool. It was just a lot muddier than last year
The gearing reigned supreme on the bump and hustle course again
I ran it multiple times in both directions
But when I got home I realized I bent my front drive shaft

And because of the Ionia super clay mud I also washed it for the first time this year haha

That pretty much gets me up to date
This weekend is going to be the last big trip of the year with the truck up to Drummond island
After that I am going to tear into the front in 1 more final time and replace some seals bearing and put in a full set of cromos with super joints

Well the Drummond trip was awesome with no failures
But I did a last minute run to Bundy hill and needed up running warn valley

I made it most of the way before I ended up tearing up the fiberglass and then snapping the passenger side stub
So since then I've ordered a set of Yukon shafts with super joints and Yukon lockouts
I also ordered some corbeau Baja Jp seats
I waiting on one oring so I can finish assembling the front shafts and I'm currently having some figment trouble with the seats
They angle back too much on the factory bracket and don't clear the back window unless I slide them all the way forward and then it's too close to the steering wheel

Looks like your having fun with it. Looks like your really starting to push it, better cage in your future plans?

I need to build a set of tube slider and do a front exo hoop around the windshield that ties into the existing roll bar
I want to protect the hard top, be able to still fold down the windshield and be able to remove the hard top without any removable tube
But I also don't have a tubing bender
The existing bar is well tied into the frame now I just need something up front

Well axle shaft swap turned into a complete rebuild of the front axle. I had maybe an 1/8" of play in the pinion and after I resigned it the pattern was terrible. I tried to reset up the gears but with no shims in the pinion the pinion was still too deep. Luckily I found of NOS Dana 4.88 gears in the old parts room! Pretty lucky I know. So I cleaned the little bit of surface rust off of them and got a good setup on those today.

So now it's got new bearings, seals and ring and pinion.
My super joints were vacuum sealed with 1 less o ring than required so I've been waiting on that but I'm the mean time I will run my old chrome with alloy USA greasable joint. I hope to get those installed tomorrow.
Also talking with my dad we have a plan for sheet metal sliders that tie into the body mounts. Also the frame is going to get chopped just behind the front spring hangers and replaced with some 2x4 1/8" tube. The frame has multiple rust holes in that section and I bent it at the badlands this summer so this is the easy fix.

Everyone likes pictures

We got the new frame section all in place with the new rear bumper and it sitting on all 4 tires again but I'm in California for 10 days so not much progress will get done while I'm gone
When I get back it will be time to work on the new stainless gas tank and hopefully replace the bent rear leaf springs. Also maybe I will have some pit bulls waiting for me when I get back but that's wishful thinking

Well I've gotten the new tank in and it's really bigger than what I need. 26 gallons should last me 3-4 weekend of wheeling...I should of done the math first haha
I got the front end buttoned up with the new yukons and super joints
I also finally got the 37" pit bulls it was 1 week shy of 6 months but you can't beat the deal.
Shakedown run at Bundy on Saturday went well as well

Stainless tank

The internal baffle to give the stock sending unit/pump a bit of a well

Yukon lockouts, major beef

The new 37s next to the old 35s

The fender trim for the 37s

They clear....mostly

And pretty impressed for the first run out

No major updates
It mostly gets rode hard and put away wet with only necessary repairs. It’s been getting pretty tired but I’ve got big plans for a 2.0 version really soon.
Had a blast at flat nasty and SMORR earlier this year
