I just changed the engine in an 01 dodge caravan with a 3.3L. Normal driviung it runs great shifts nicely. however it will not upshift at WOT it pulls to 4700ish rpm and stops let off it shifts? Im not really sure if this is a lack of power type situation(wont clime to the RPM needed to shift) or a shifting issue. Does anyone know if these have a rev limiter?

Electronic trans. No kickdown.
So it would be a function of the computer? Or relay on this vehicle?

Eitherway, on a vehicle using a cable kickdown it would require adjustment when experienceing the above problem.

Sorry, I dont know Dodge "options" that well. I do know operations.

ive had problems with the module having to relearn if you change the trans fluid or disconect lines. Quickest way is to use a scan tool

x2 I would get it hooked up. ALso give it a once over and make sure every plug is plugged in and getting contact. Seems it would throw a code if it was not getting contact but I have seem stranger things...like a minivan that will not shift at WOT....

well I finally took it in to the dealership to be hooked to the DRB. as it turns out it thinks its running 60% ethanol(not a e85 station in 400 miles). I will be putting an 02 sensor in some time this week as that is what dodge uses to sense ethanol % in the 3.3 flex fuels. The power and ground lines apear in range so its either the sensor or an issue with the signal wire.

ok I fixed it. If you ever start to have a REALLY rich condition in a 98-03 with no upshift at WOT take it to a dealer and have them check the ethanol % then when it is probly out of range replace you 02 sensor. On second thought just change your 02 sensor every 60,000 miles or so if you have a 98-03 caravan with a 3.3 it plays a HUGE role in the way these vans run.
