Default #racetruck New 4600 class build

With the success we've had so far in our new venture (589 Fabrication) and with competition heating up, we decided we need to do something to set ourselves apart.

We needed to be able to show people what our products are capable of and Ultra4 Racing has provided the perfect platform for this. With their 4600 Stock class, we are able to build a truck that will use our products and be able to compete in the toughest one day race in the US.

Our main goal is to use racing as a development platform to better our current products and highlight new products that are needed.

Completion timing is set for King of the Hammers Every Man Challenge 2019. We hope to participate in some of the other races in the series too.

Build plan:

-2016 Chevrolet Colorado W/T Extended Cab 4x4
-3.6l V6 with 305hp
-6l50e 6 speed auto trans
-Factory Tcase
-Factory axles
-Factory ZR2 Front suspension
-Custom rear leaf spring setup
-KING coilovers front and KING shocks rear (colorado specific)
- 35x12.50R17 Tires
-17" aluminum Beadlocks
-2x.120 Roll cage tied into the frame
-Sparco Composite tub race seats
-Fiberglass fenders/hood
-Lots of lights for when we are stuck in the rocks all night because we are rookies.

Our products that will be fitted on the truck:

All of our products will be off the shelf, same thing we sell to you. If we change it for racing, we'll be changing it for production.

-High Clearance front bumper (currently in development)
-High Clearance rear bumper (currently in development)
-2) Spare tire carriers
-HD Shock Skids
-Full steel skid plate package - from front bumper to Tcase (finishing up development)
-Rock sliders (currently in development)
-ARB Twin compressor mount
-Jack Mount
-HD Rear Diff cover
-TBD

There will also be some other new products coming, as they are needed for this build, that will be mentioned later.

This is what we are starting with:

2016 W/T Colorado with 23,000 miles and some scratches in the paint.

This platform has a lot of strong points, but just as many short comings. Racing this truck will show everyone what this truck can do and what it can not.

This is obviously a rough game plan for this truck. There is a lot more than bolting parts on the truck to get it race ready. Safety, coolers, spare parts, navigation, pits, graphics, etc.

Way cool... Hopefully I'll see it in person on the lakebed next year.

I'm excited to see what you do. I'm a big fan of your past builds.

Are the kings you have planned from a actual factory Colorado? I'm not as familiar with them. Is the new zr2 like the raptor with factory fox coilovers?

The ZR2 comes with Multimatic DSSV spool Valve shocks. The King’s we will be using are kings bolt in Colorado specific shocks.

Will you have to pull the frame straight, or is it mostly cosmetic damage?

About the front 10-12" is bent to the drivers side. Will have to have it straightened.

I know you've already purchased the other shop truck. What was your reasoning behind using this platform as the basis for all your products and company startup? Was there something you noticed with these trucks as far as demand vs. availability? Or personal preference?

When we started brain storming for the company, I had already purchased a diesel colorado and loved it. I basically couldn't find much aftermarket support for it and with how much i liked the diesel, I knew it would start to catch on. We've been watching Tacoma guys leave Toyota and get a diesel Colorado, and now you see even more with the introduction of the ZR2.

Now, if someone plans to take your Colorado/Canyon off-road, our shop is the first place people look to prepare. We weren't first out with bumpers, but we were first in all of our other accessories and still the only company that makes Shock Skids to keep the $500 ZR2 shocks in one piece offroad. We get emails everyday for people asking for more products, and we are doing everything we can to keep up.

I've owned two JK's now, and other than the removable roof, these trucks are way better for a DD/weekend warrior. More power, better MPG, Diesel, Locker f/r, a bed, higher towing capacity, smoother ride, quieter, etc.

Most of the broken parts out of the way. Need to push the truck out and clean up my mess now. Going to cut off the factory tow hooks that are mangled, remove the sway bar and it's ready for the frame shop.

Frame shop? In order to compete in 4600 you need to cheat without getting caught. Just pull a Savvy and have John Currie build the thing with some of your parts on the outside, test it, and drive it to a win for you.

I'm going to have way more fun smashing this thing myself I don't expect to win or even finish our first race. I just hope we make it to and off the starting line and have some fun.

The talent that left gas monkey garage. He ran a scout with a 4bt in the ultra 4. I think it went like 70 miles
