Its in already. The 5.3 was one of the first things I did to the Jeep 3 or 4 weeks after I bought it. I sold my subaru WRX to get this and going from that to a 4 cylinder jeep wasnt a whole lot of fun haha.
Here is a picture of the motor going in

Barnes 4wd bumper is done and painted, novak cable shifter is installed and the tailgate is coming along nicely, except I left my latches in kalamazoo an hour away from the jeep.

Been a while since my last update. Wheeled it quite a bit over the summer at rocks and valleys, silver lake, and bundy.

I picked up a set of 5 35" KM2s with JK wheels from a member here which was awesome, but lead to a lot of breakage. U joiunts, transfer case, and d30. It all happened the week after I put the wheels on. I rebuilt the transfercase and added a sye with a shortened xj shaft I built. At the same time I added a flat skid I had laser cut out of 1/4" steel. I also added 4 pieces of 1" angle iron for bracing to the skid.
For the front axle I picked up an hp d30, re geared it to 4.10 and bolted it in.

At some point in there I also added a superwinch with synthectic line and a 2" BDS lift kit.

Jeep is currently in storage right now and is slowly getting cut up and put back together to make it to the reject run at the end of january. After one of my last silver lake trips I managed to bend one of the front upper control arms pretty good.

So I figured this was a perfect time to 3 link the front. I have everything ordered and have already started cutting off the mounts. I will be running the lowers mounted in the stock location on the axle with new frame side mounts. Upper arm will be different than stock and located on the passenger side. All brackets are laser cut out of 1/4" steel and I will weld them together. Arms will have a heim on the frame side and a poly bushing on the axle side. Hopefully by then end of next weekend I will have it all mocked up.

Old brackets are cut off, new brackets are back from the laser shop and heims are in. Hopefully by the end of the weekend I will have everything at least tacked together.

3 Link is pretty much done, just need to throw a coat of paint on everything. I ended up with all 3 links at 24", upper link parallel with the ground, frame separation of 7" and axle separation of about 9". Stock steering and track bar are still being used.
Passenger side lower at full droop using the stock axle side bracket:

Axle side upper link

And frame side upper link mount. I got a little creative here and used a 1.25" x .25" wall piece of tube welded to the top of the frame with a 3/4" bolt going through to the rod end. Next weekend I will make it a double shear mount.

Besides paint and the added strength to the frame side upper mount this is how the jeep will sit for the reject run. After the reject run I will most likely tackle the steering and track bar. I also wouldnt mind making new lower arm axle side brackets with shock mounts and get them closer to the axle centerline so the lower links are closer to parallel with the ground.

Had an awesome time at the reject run. Jeep did great and i managed to not break anything. Only issue I had was my track bar bolt fell off. I must have forgot to tighten that when I did the 3 link.

I also managed to pick up an hp 44 out of a 76 f150 on my way home. Hopefully I will be able to start right away on getting that swapped in. Im thinking welded diff with lockouts, re gear to 4.10 and then shorten to waggy length to match my 8.8. I will also ditch the stock steering and track bar in favor of custom with heims. Still on the fence about pushing the axle farther forward. I made my arms with intentions too so right now the heims are threaded all the way in and the axle is about an inch farther forward then stock. I could prolly comfortably get another 1.5 inches threading the heims out, and then i could ditch the poly bushings and add heims and the axle side for even more length.
