More people were hurt texting while walking today then by this media induced virus.

Donít get me wrong. We all could do better at hygiene and how our own illnesses effect each other. But this is getting crazy.

I believe it's serious. Panic serious, no but never the less, serious. The fatality rate appears to be higher than the typical flu by a factor of 10. Still pretty small numbers but bigger. I believe the greater problem is the rate of expansion once it hits an area. The emergency centers aren't prepared for how quickly it can spread. This is why attempting to slow it down and widen out the bell curve makes sense.

For those skeptics who say it is all media and the dems trying to destroy Trump, there are billions of dollars being lost over this. None of these big companies, pro sports or NCAA sports are shutting down just to fukc Trump. Nor is Trump closing the border because he is afraid of the dems. Not to mention the stories coming out of Italy.

It's serious and may very well be being over hyped. The difficult problem is - what if it's not? It's far better to be over cautious and say OOPS than watch the population die and say OOPS.

I don't think is as serious as a lot of people are making it out to be. The elderly really need to be careful as it has only been old people that have died from it. No kids.

For the rest of us, if infected they say we will feel like we have a cold or a mild flu. Which I had in early january and never went to the doctor. Just stayed at home and took care of it myself.

I wonder how many thousands of people got sick and maybe with covid19 and didn't know it? If everyone that got sick went to the doctor and was diagnosed with corona that fatality rate would drop.
Last year 61,000 Americans died from the flu alone. To date there have been, what 30 people died from corona?

I did read this morning that people in China are now seeing a tic decrease in reported cases of corona.

On a side note my wife went to pick up a few things from costco and sams club this morning and said that the place is a madhouse. People are hoarding TP, paper towels, hand sanitizer and food. She said the shelves are getting bare.
Then she asked me if I wanted a case of corona(beer) cause she didn't see any Blue Moon.

Keep in mind that China is seeing a decrease ONLY after a mandatory quarantine.

https://www.cdc.gov/flu/pandemic-res...d6O2xhvl8WRqlg

I don't remember any panic with this when more than 12,000 people died including children.
The media is hyping this up to create a fear in the population and to affect the economy.

Aber is on point. The high risk are the elderly, smokers, obese, and those with already weakened immune systems. The danger of the virus is in its incubation period, you may not show signs or symptoms. However you will still be contagious enough to pass it to your parents/grand parents who will not be as lucky.

I agree.

And it's no comfort that only old or health problems that at much risk, as I and many people I know fall into those categories.

This will put a lot of businesses into bankruptcy and will destroy the economy. Ohio has shut all schools down. How long till they shut manufacturing down? This could be some serious every man for himself shit. I donít think itís a major health risk for most of us but a major portion of the population is the baby boomer generation and they are most at risk and they pretty much run the country
Hope this is all nothing but damn people are freaking out like nothing weíve ever seen

I didn't listen to the whole clip but the way he explained it we could lose up to 48 million at risk people.
I suppose all we can do is wait and see how this plays out.

I think it really reiterates the inevitability of the whole thing. We're talking about a highly contagious airborne virus. Even wearing masks (and the right masks at that) will only delay the spread. However, delaying the spike in cases is what will aid our healthcare system in dealing with it.

We're up to twelve cases in Michigan but there's no doubt that there are likely hundreds, if not thousands, more that are not and to get tested due to not meeting the CDCs guidelines. The amount of tests we have done as a country is abysmal comparatively. Expect this to get much worse before it gets better.

Yep and that's why it's serious.
