Default TJ soft upper doors on a YJ hardtop

A couple sources say this would work. Seemed like a nice setup to me so I tried it. I knew the door pins would need to be adjusted but, it was more involved than that. I ended up shortening the frames about 1/2Ē front to rear. I also had to reshape the front corner and upper radius.

The modified driverís side is on top of the untouched passengerís side for reference.

How hard was it to deal with the fabric? Any trimming or just re stretch it?

I am using new replacements I got off Craigslist. I think they may be Smittybilts. Anyway, they are made tight enough to fit well with no trimming. The skins still put up a good fight stretching over the frame.

Good to know. Thanks for sharing. I never got a true answer before either. I bought a set of soft doors for the CJ and I’m not sure I want to modify them enough to fit the hard top.
