It's been about a year and half that I've been routinely doing these inspections, the quality of cars has definitely improved from the beginning. The first few months, they all were old crap that was nasty and mechanically poor. Recently there's been alot of nicer newer cars.

Must be a Michigan thing. I use uber almost exclusively when on the road for work, I think I've had one vehicle that was older it was a college student in Green Bay. The car was also every day Joe Blow dirty, not bad but not offensive by any means.

Most uber's I've been in are spotless, I'm amazed to the length some of the drivers I've had go. Coolers of water, baskets of snacks, then the annoying Christmas lady in Florida that had her entire interior decorated in Christmas shit, and annoying Christmas music

I'm sure it's reflective of the area. They've gotten ALOT nicer as if late.

What are the requirements?

I've never taken one here in MI.

But have damn near every other state I've traveled too. All have been newer sedans that were very clean.

I have preferred Lyft though. Seems to be cheaper and the drivers have always been more sociable.

I drive Lyft and Uber to make extra Jeep cash. Lyft is more critical about what you drive. If you have a new enough vehicle you can hit some pretty decent bonus money which they just raised the threshold. It has been very easy for me to make $700 to $800 before taxes and expenses in about 25 to 30 hrs of driving.

Most in the area I am prefer Lyft to Uber riders and drivers.

The pictures that John posted if Lyft knew about those vehicles they wouldn't approve them to be used.

To bad cleanliness isn't a inspection point .

As far as the inspections go, uber are my detailed then lyft. I've had cars that pass lyft but not uber during the same inspection.

Most drivers seem to be under the impression only Belle Tire can perform them. But in all reality any licensed mechanic can pass them.

That is because Belle is their preferred place in the area and they recommend them.

There are some pretty sketchy areas I go into. I am very cautious at any pickup. I do have something with me that makes it a little safer but still I always wonder.

Use one of the vans. See if they have the sack to carjack a windowless van that drove into a sketchy area, lol.

What's funny, apparently you can make an appointment through uber or lyft to have your inspection done.... In no way is their systems connected to ours. We have no idea what "appointments" are made. Drivers get pist when we inform them they don't actually have an appointment. And seems majority expect me to drop everything I'm working on to perform their inspections right then and there.

We had lots of really angry drivers during the first few weeks of snowfall when we informed them it was hrs wait to get them because we were so busy with tires.

Ive had few try and bribe me in the parking lot to just pass their vehicles lol.

Yup! My insurance agent told me that rates are typically cheaper on manual transmission vehicles because most thieves (and people) don't know how to drive them. I miss my Ranger sometimes.

Pretty sure you would sit on a needle in that car. Its obvious they live in it and do uber to pay for a drug habit. I would laugh and shut the door.
