Well I have replaced the soft lines; and put about 5000 miles on it with no issues yet. I am really thinking this could be the cause or the start of the cause of the problem.

once you boil the fluid, swell the line and don't replace the line....you have the result of hanging up.
I'd bet your problem is under control.

Dont know. What ever it was let loose after I beat the crap out of the caliper with a hammer so I could get home.

I will be ordering the complete "Z36 PowerStop" system for this truck in a couple weeks. Rotors, Ceramic pads, calipers, pins, frame, and any small hardware. I will flush out the system again, replace all the rubber lines, and then bring it to my favorite mechanic for a QAQC.
Anymore failure and it will be for sale; replaced with a Mustang of my liking.

Update us on how you like the Powerstop kit. I replaced my brakes with factory ones on my Sierra, but next time I might go the Powerstop route. (got a screaming deal on factory parts this time)

Well, the Powerstop Z36 braking system showed up today for the super duty. I’m guessing the UPS driver has a hernia now though. They put everything for the front in one box. I will start installing this weekend.

I have used the powerstop kits three times all with good results. If you spend a little time on Rock Autos website looking at part numbers and selecting the parts separately they are cheaper than the kit, go figure.

You my friend are a better man than I, as I would have probably just disconnected them at the master years ago.

Managed to get the system installed today. So far so good and it does seem to stop the truck better.

The first three fuel tanks since the brake change averaged between 21.5mpg ~ 22.3mpg, up from 14.5mpg

That is about where it was at when I first put the tuner on it. Apparently I had more than one brake caliper dragging.

Wow, that is a huge difference. I would think you would blow through pads in weeks if it was dragging that bad?????

Wow that's a huge difference. I recently bought a F350 7.3 I have been thinking about buying a tuner. Which tuner do you have on yours?

I have a DP, but I purchased it from Frdboy who had it on his truck for several years and he did all the adjustments. So in other words; "the tuner has been touched by the Masters hands". LOL

It's been a good purchase for me but to be honest, I only run the 2nd stage (about 80hp gain) and only while I'm on the expressway. I do a lot of traveling out of state and country for my son's hockey and rowing teams.

About every three to six months. I think in total I have changed out 18 different calipers and three complete sets of rotors since I bought it. I have just under 280,000 miles on it now and I bought it new in 2002.

Okay cool thanks. My truck is a 2002 I bought it off of my buddys brother. He was the original owner. After reading this thread I asked him if ever had a problem with the rear brakes. He said no. But Im definitely going to be keeping an eye on them.

If I was going to purchase a new tuner for a 7.3 Id go with the hydra chip. A lot of bang for the buck. And I think it pulls codes too. Go with custom tunes
