Well you have 2.72 now and the 300 is 2.62 2.72x2.62=2.62x2.72
Maybe I'm looking at it differently because a 231 has the same 26spline outputs

Yes they are! with the 231 crawl box attached to the front of it it will only be 1" longer than my factory 231. And being that I'm running a standard trans I shouldn't have driveshaft clearance issues, due to the lack of width like with a auto trans

2wd low mod with a 231 is all you'll need and it'll save you the headache and fire hazard when gear oil is pooling up in your belly skid. From experience I even double sealed mine with double lip seals and polished my shifter rails. Lasted 4-8 shifts before they started letting fluid by.
