Finally got this thing going again. Changed cooling system, built new intercooler system, rear discs, abs module delete, built new exhaust, whole new fuel system, built new trans crossmember. Gotta love when projects spiral out of control.

Great build!
And looks like a lot of fun being added to it.

I have a 1997 K2500 Suburban and I'm in the processes of swapping in a 12 valve.

I'm curious, what was the application or the part number for the A/C compressor you ended up going with?

So far the issue I see I may have is the Suction and Discharge are swapped for the Manifold lines I have. The compressor has the Discharge below the Suction, I have a manifold line for a 1994-97 Ram, and the set that was on my 7.4 in the Suburban, both when positioned on the compress would put the Discharge above the Suction.

I noticed yours appeared to have individual screw in fittings, that could help my situation.

I have plenty more work to get done before the A/C has to be done. I have to keep plugging away at the other things as I try to figure out what I'll do with the A/C lines.

Thanks for all the info you've already shared.
I look forward to seeing some more updates on your build upgrades!

You should start a build thread for your Burb.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I procured a High Mount A/C bracket from a Heavy Truck Recycler in the area. It came off an early 90's F700. It didn't have A/C, it had an idler bolted in the compressor's place.

I bought the compressor that says it fits 94-05 Ram with a Cummins, and to go with it I bought the Manifold line that says it fits the 95-97 Ram with a Cummins.
The compressor has the manifold port on the rear of the pump, very close to the oil filter, so there isn't enough room to flip it around and try to make it fit.
I'm not afraid to fabricate, but my first choice is a part of the shelf with little modification... in case something needs fixed/replaced down the road (or on the road).

I'm still not sure what application your compressor is for, but I did find that the C7 CAT compressor from a GMC 7500 has the manifold ports facing the same direction as yours. This may work for me, looks like the 7.4 lines may actually bolt to it, with a little bending and rearranging... it just might work!

Perhaps when I get some more loose ends tied up, I post on here what I've been able to do, and how I did it.
In the mean time, I've been chronicling it on the GMT400 forum. http://www.gmt400.com/threads/1997-k...version.40952/

Thanks again for the info!

I see you changed your Alt. mounting slightly...
Was there a significant reason?

Yes, that compressor you have, has the suction and discharge in the location I'm looking for... I have yet to find which compressor has the screw in lines though.
