Attempting to repair the unibody Friday. Just looking for any suggestions, what to do, what not to do, thoughts on the best route of repair, etc.
![]() Typical place for rust on an XJ. Right where the gas tank fill spout runs through the unibody. Planning on dropping the gas tank, cutting out the rust till I get something I can weld too. Any input is appreciated! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sand blast the whole area after you get it apart.
The primer they used on those does not remove well with a grinder or sanding attempts. Makes welding a pain. |

Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to swing by harbor freight. See what they have for media blasters. It's looking like Ill be taking it all the way back to the bumper mount. I've looked at a few shackle relocation kits, do you have any suggestions as far as the hanger for the lead spring? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
