I’m so conflicted.
I’m being patient, waiting for things to fall into place, getting the trailer spruced up with new fenders and racks, packing stuff up.
But I want to get out of the city, so bad.

They have a traffic signal and streetlights. That’s way too much!

Atlanta has a lot of nice ORV trails, and Lewiston is a nice little town with a decent golf course and quaint atmosphere.

I have a piece of property in Presque Isle (between Alpena and Rogers City) and I personally love that area. But I am biased...

We’ve been there a couple time.
We like the restaurant at the marina.

Yes, they have good food and a friendly staff. Fireside is good for breakfast, and the daily limit has good food too.

The area is absolutely stunning during fall colors!
A major influence in our choices.

Our property is right off E. Grand Lake Rd. Which is a beautiful drive in the fall.

Reading this again to see what I missed.
Manistee it is. I am astonished at the crime stats, I hope that’s an anomaly or a product of the casino.
Thanks for the help to everyone for their input. It helped. This is my fourth house, and I made mistakes every time.

Choices came down to 20, 40, 60, 80 acres that was thirty minutes to the water or five acres three minutes from the beach and five minutes to launch. Beach and boat won out.

We wanted single story 2 br, 2 ba, 20+ acre, attached garage, shop, fifteen minutes or less from Lake Michigan. There is some nice properties around that are sitting vacant with acreage. We found most had some kind of “hit” that we couldn’t overcome.

The woods was a big deal for both of us. And I’m still pissed about it. So we will be buying wood again. 1000 sq ft basement is finished, so I have stairs which is bad. She said I can put in a fire pole which is good. I have never minded living on a dirt road, this place has pavement all the way, so the cars stay clean.

The inspection is this week, if all goes right we take possession on the 21st.
Moving sucks. I have a plan, and the plan is good.

Well, if beach and boat are priorities, that's not a terrible compromise. I would have preferred a bit more property with my new house, but 2 1/2 acres backing up to 20+ undeveloped (and land locked) wasn't bad. It doesn't have the pole barn I wanted, but I can build one of those.

I found that much of what I looked at that met my criteria, had some real deal killers as well.
